phone retailers have gone headfastly into referring to storage as 'memory' and trying their best to hide the ram - but this is a new one.

Here are the phone bands, I think I am going to get it

Technical Model Number for this phone is Samsung SM-S236DL. There are other Samsung A23 5G models with different phone bands so the specific model number of s236DL is important to me.
This info from PhoneMore and I assume it is correct https://www.phonemore.com/specs/s...sm-s236dl/
Primary 5G network
  • SA/NSA/Sub6 (2, 5, 66, 71)
  • mmWave (41, 48, 77, 78)
Primary 4G network
  • LTE Cat15 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 14, 20, 29, 30, 66, 71)
  • TD-LTE (38, 39, 40, 41, 48)
  • VoLTE
Primary 3G network UMTS 850/900/1700/1900/2100
Primary 2G network GSM 850/900/1800/1900
GSM MHz band Quad-Band 850/900/1800/1900
—————————-

T-Mobile uses these bands if one wants to transfer after the 2 months unlock
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...le-network

5G
  • Band n71 (600 MHz)
  • Band n41 (2.5 GHz)
  • Band n258 (24 GHz)
  • Band n260 (39 GHz)
  • Band n261 (28 GHz)
4G XR
  • Band 12 (700 MHz)
  • Band 71 (600 MHz)
4G
  • Band 2 (1900 MHz)
  • Band 5 (850 MHz)
  • Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
  • Band 66 (Extension of band 4 on 1700/2100 MHz).

No band 258,260, or 261 but those are the 24 to 40 ghz frequencies that never work indoors and anything that blocks line of sight such as a piece of paper or the leaves of a tree disrupt frequencies in this range. Normal Wifi is 2.4 ghz and thus penetrates walls 10x better than 24 ghz (it is a little more complicated than this from a science perspective)

I think I am going to buy this in the next few hours Confusednod

I'd be interested in this if it had 6GB of ram instead of 4GB.

Samsung's $300 Galaxy A23 will get up to four years of support, but only two Android updates

Yep and it was an originally Android 12 device and then a few months later they did Android 13 for it so hopefully Android 14 but no 15 or 16 (androids usually come out every year based off past decade of history)

I think I am going to push purchase for myself.

Motorola does not give you that kind of support. This is why people like Samsung phones.
Remember this is a budget phone, but not bad for the price.

Yep, 100% I am not voicing my entire-thought process with all the details out-loud laugh out loud for it would be a rambling mess. But this is the quilting point I settled on, for while Apple is better with updates I think this is the best I am going to get for the price I want to spend nod

(thanks for the feedback, it helps settling things)

If youre planning to use it on tmobile, then might as well get the Metro version for $50 + $40 first month and total $90. Also unlocks in about 60 days. You wont have the extra TF 1yr plan, but could get the flip phone w 1yr plan from TF on ebay for $25-30, and that matches this offer in total cost in the end.

Metro unlocks in 181 days (6 months). That's a lot longer than 2 months Frown

Does Tracfone auto unlock in 2 months? Any cases or situations where unlock did not occur?
