15 Amp Corded 12 in. Dual Bevel Miter Saw with Professional Compact Miter Saw Stand on sale for $319.
List is $528 which I'm sure is inflated but seems to be a good price with the compact stand included.

Might be hackable also by returning the stand.

Items that are bundled together and have one SKU are not hackable. Only buy this, get that deals are hackable typically.

Great price! In comparison, I was excited when I got these two items from direct tools for $298

Don't go sliding unless you absolutely need the extra cut capacity it offers. Non-sliders are more accurate, take up much less space (to store and to use), are lighter, and are cheaper.

Yeah nobody's needs sliding until they do.

I would say if you're going to have 1 saw go with sliding. If you're a professional probably better to have one big sliding one and a small lightweight 10".

If I was only going to have 1 saw go with the more versatile one.

Agreed.

My sliding Dewalt DWS779 folds up great on the Ridgid rolling stand and takes up minimal space in my garage. I had a Hitachi 12" non-slider before this and while I really liked the Hitachi, I have much more versatility with the slider and it's just as accurate after a few minor adjustments.

So you recommend going with sliding in case you might eventually need the extra capacity someday, despite all the drawbacks that they have.

I recommend enjoying the benefits of a fixed saw and upgrade to sliding if the need arises. Personally, I find that accurate miters aren't typically needed on boards larger than what this saw can cut. Exceptions would be large crown and exceptionally tall baseboard. If those are realistically in your future, then definitely go sliding.

BTW, I have an expensive DWS780 slider that never gets used because my mitering needs are taken care of with a smaller and more accurate 10" fixed or even more portable battery powered one.

I'd say Rigid is more reputable in the US being they are a US company (not US made).

15 Amp is the most power you can get out of most 110 volt standard plugs, so it's the most useful max power for a power tool. And the 12' is the smallest a framer would use for a miter saw.

As long as the Motabo one is a 15 amp 12" blade, the. It's comparable. Also note this Rigid has a shop vac port for a cleaner and safer (for the lungs) cut station.

I agree, I have a sliding miter saw and I never use it, mainly because it's too heavy to take out from storage.
