Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

My phone arrived today. I already setup a pin and account in the order process. How do I login to my account? It asks for my phone number for my account. It will not let me login with my email and pin. Do I start over and create a new account? Since the phone and account are new, I do not have a phone number yet.

I ended up ordering a Oneplus Nord N200 to use with T-Mobile. The phone was shipped by T-Mobile and came with a T-Mobile R15 sim card. I had to call in to activate the sim card with an existing number (since it's replacing an e-sim), but otherwise had no issues getting the N200 to immediately work on T-Mo.

I was able to do that before even setting up my Metro account.

Just ordered after it came back in stock. Smooth set up. Says it will ship today and arrive by Friday. I didn't get any of the strange questions that others got to verify who they were. I just got the basic account set up questions like setting up pin and one security question like what's your school mascot to verify identity later.

Question: If I activate it, then don't pay for 6 months until it unlocks, how long do I own the new phone number? Can they cancel my account and release the phone number? I was thinking the number has value in the future say in a couple years to get in on another deal that requires "port in". Basically, Is the new phone number mine forever even if it's not active in a paying account?
Was curious about this too as thinking to port the number to the Mint deal going on with Pixel 7 until end of next month....

You have to activate your service, you should receive an email to activate your phone, you can also activate it from the "shipping" email you received before, after that, insert your sim card, turn on phone and setup as usual, after the phone finishes setup, you can login to your account on the metro app

If I go to a store to get this deal, would they give me 4 phones on the 4 lines for $100?

Last time I went to the store to get the deal, they said I would have to choose the $60, get insurance, case and activation costs, it was over $100 for 1 phone 🙄

Just ordered one. It let me add it to cart. I had to click three times before it successfully placed the order. My total was $40

autopay is off by default at checkout, also your card won't save to your account
