Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

Not sure what part you think I'm misunderstanding. I have (and had) read OP, the Wiki, and the FAQ for this thread.

Yes, lots of phones to choose from, I count 36 (including Android and iOS). This is what I see for the N20, $50 with new number and $40 plan (online possible) or $0 with port-in and $60 plan (store visit required). $20 activation according to OP of this thread. Getting it for $0 + $40 plan + $0 activation + no store visit appeals, but it seems I am (as you say) "clearly not reading the original post properly and understanding what the original post says". That's why I asked how you got it for $40 total and no store visit.

FWIW, this is what I'm seeing for the N20:
When I ordered it in early January, it was $40 total and no store visit.

If you don't care which phone, pick one that has the $40 and that is available online from the phones on this page: https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/c...eLowToHigh

do you guys know how to set internet and wifi speed indicator in status bar ??
I found searching in OnePlus N20 setting. Real-time Network Speed. Last time I saw that was on a Redmi. Lol. Can't find in Moto, Samsung, or Pixel. More research required.

I created in store account 10 months ago and used service for 2 months. If I go to store, do I need to ask for a new account?

Can I NOT open a box and give it to someone new as a gift that already has a metro where I don't have to open the box and insert the SIM I just want to give the phone away as a gift and they have their own MetroCard would that work without opening the box and activating the phone?

If you go into a store, make sure that all you pay out the door is $40 including tax.
If they charge you $40 + $20 activation, you have to decide whether you are willing to pay the $20 or wait until this phone is available online again.

If you don't see the option to buy it online, it means it's out of stock. Keep checking periodically and hope you catch it in time if/when it comes back in stock.

Thank you, yes, they most of the time charge $20. My doubt is about creating a new account. I am not sure they MetroPCS checks the previously created account or will store go ahead and create a new account.

Read the room. This is about "128GB Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G." If you ask an off-topic question, I suggest you provide context.

And call the store for this question.

I don't think that's how you enter the unlock code. Google how and try again, and let us know.

Yup. Apparently the SIM unlock is baked into the T-mobile firmware. I researched several Sim unlock services and read the fine print which states that you NEED to be prompted for a unlock code when placing a foreign (non-metro) Sim in. Once I found this doesn't occur, I ended my quest.

googling for last 2 days nada. Seems like you are so confident and should contribute to this thread instead of advising for google search.

I believe the OP describes this as both an online and an in-store offer, and sometimes the Metro site only offers it in-store.
