Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

My N20 came with a 33watt charger. I used it once to charge this Stylus and thinking of using it to charge the A14 and A23. Safe or not?

Yes, safe. The phone will only take as much power as it is able to receive.

Finally ordered. Surprisingly faced no issue as mentioned in the thread by others. I used MS Edge browser on iPad, everything worked smoothly.

Has anyone been able to order anything (online) in the past few days, say from Feb 25th forward? Can't get past the technical issue, even for the very few phones which are available for online ordering.

I'm absolutely boggled at how a major cell carrier can have such a staggeringly dysfunctional website, even on Chrome. After multiple failed attempts to place an order last week, I was finally able to successfully get one to go through a few minutes ago on DuckDuckGo.

It was still a little frustrating because, in both Chrome and DuckDuckGo, Metro kept pre-adding the Samsung A53 and the $50 plan to my cart, making it impossible to add the Motorola phone, since the cart is limited to one line at a time. Removing the Samsung phone and $50 plan from my cart disabled the ability to select whether I needed a new number or not well attempting to add the Motorola phone to my card as a new line, at least in DuckDuckGo, so things are still buggy there. But emptying my cart and closing/reopening my browser then attempting to add the Motorola phone and $40 plan a couple times finally allowed me to place my order successfully.

Looks like they're even using their time machine to fulfill my order.

Managed to get one or at least place the order.

Can someone confirm it has NFC? I know it is mentioned in specs here on SD but the Metro page does not mention NFC in their specs.

If you have an apartment number, make sure and put it on the same line as the address and not the second form field where they ask for it as they didn't print the second form field on the shipping label causing it to be returned to UPS due to missing apartment number. I was able to get it added by calling UPS but it delayed the shipment.

Batteries have ideal charging current/voltage and temperature for optimum longevity/capacity. Most cell phones don't have circuit to control the output of the charger based on battery temperature. Excessive power input generates excessive heat. The extra heat cannot safely dissipate on a hot day, leading to premature degradation of the battery.

Most manufacturers will reduce the charge speed once the battery capacity is above 80%. For optimum battery life, re-charge at the normal rate when battery capacity falls below 40-50%. Remove the charger when battery capacity hits 80%.

A reputable phone manufacturer will offer two charging speed, normal and fast. If the phone is warm (battery temperature above 112 F) during charging, then the charge speed is too high.

I think he was worried that the charger being a higher wattage is an issue, probably didn't know the voltage is the same for all these USBC chargers, and the current would only get changed after the charger and phone handshake on how fast a power rate it can handle.
