I'm actually sipping on a 19th year, but despite that I prefer the 18 year one.

It says right on the label that's by Alexander Murray, which is a separate distillery (I've had AM's own 18yr bottles). Unless AM is owned my Macallan then I stand corrected.
FYI Alexander Murray is the bottler, not the distiller. Unknown distiller but as mentioned above, suspected to be Macallan

He wouldn't be disappointed. This is a fine Speyside at this price point. Common belief is that the distillery is either Macallan or Aberlour.
Really appreciate the response and info fellow SDer! Going to pickup a bottle!

Haha yeah, if they're a heavy drinker then the huge Costco bottle of Dewars is a good bang for the buck.

Sounds like a great buy, for what it is. I'm a scotch drink and usually the higher end and worth shot, no pun intended, unfortunately in NY Costco doesn't sell liquor, just beer and wine. : (

None in Florence, KY.
Does Costco normally not sell their great priced scotches at the Florence location?

Whiskey aficionado here. This is typically very, very decent juice for the money. Admittedly, these Kirkland offerings can be a bit hit and miss, but they are always good value. I have had some bottlings that punch way out of their weight class and some that are just decent, but I have never regretted a purchase. You will not find good 18 year old single malt scotch that this price point outside of Costco and, occasionally, Trader Joe's. Buy it.

Teetotaler disclaimer- I know nothing about alcohol.

Is this a great price for what it is or similar deals can be had thru the year? Thinking of stocking up for end of the year gifts to colleagues who drink / host parties often. Might be a decent gift to carry for the host.

Thanks and reps.

How would you compare it to oban 14 and lagavulin 16? My current two favorites and about the most I want to spend on a bottle of alcohol.

Same comment here. I have never been burned by a Costco purchase value-wise. TJ's Signatory bottlings can be bad.

This is a totally different animal from those two. Two of my favorites as well Smilie. This has zero peat/smoke found in Laga and less nuance than Oban. These are typically more of the sweeter sherry-bomb category like some MaCallan, Aberlour, and GlenDronach.

Wow...price went up. 18 is okay. The 21 is much better. I remembered the 21 was at this price 2 yrs ago.
