Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe XR tag is usually the "Premium" model of that specific tool. All XR tools are brushless, but not all brushless 20v tools are XR.

The 20v max came out, then dewalt released the XR Line which meant "extended runtime" because of the brushless motor and more premium features like say a metal chuck on a drill, speed selectors, or other internal components upgrades form the 20v max line.

As time passed in the last 2-3 years i guess Dewalt wanted to hit different market price points and they release "Brushless" Tools. These are a step below the XR line but a step up from the 20V max line. Usually they will have a plastic chuck for drill/drivers and for impacts / oscillating multitools they wont have a 3 speed selector.

I think they are still trying to introduce and expand the 12v line so these are just Brushless for now. Once the offering is a little bigger and has been out for a while I'd imagine they will make some "XR" 12v Versions or what ever they want to label "Premium" For the 12v line.

Side note this is a great home tool set for a DIY or just for home general project use. Light weight and will get the job done. I used the impact to assemble a 10x10 shed and it worked great. So unless you're running 3" screws on a jobsite for 8 hours a day this is all you really need.

Looks like it's sold by 'Tools N More'. This is a great deal though. Wonder if it's a price mistake.

Correct me if I'm wrong but regarding what "XR" means in the dewalt landscape, these are not XR labeled tools, just brushless

That's what I had thought initially but if you match the Model #s from both this item and the one on Lowe's, (https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-X...1000981080), it Shows XR on Lowe's website but it does not show it on Amazon

I'm already deep into Milwauke 12v Fuel tools. But I've used these and they are great light weight 12v tools. Good power, nice and light, slim grips. Dewalts Xtreme 12v is a solid line up for diyer / homeowner.

I use 20v dewalt but if I were to get into a 12v line I'd do the m12 for $140 after hack at Home Depot. Their line has a huge range of tools and it seems there is more hackable deals for what you will need in the future
