Multiple access points. Total budget is 120w vs 60w. An access point can use up to 30 watts.

Thinking to replace my T-plink TL-SG108E with this. I'm fine with it except for the lack of https on the admin area. Is this adequate even thought I dont need POE at all?

Will they not honor the lower price retroactively if you ask them to? Otherwise folks will do what you describe and get the deal anyway but incur additional costs for Amazon, not to mention environmental impact.
My thought is that a certain percentage of people will initiate the return and then not follow up on it. As far as environmental impact, I'm pretty sure Jeff Bezos doesn't care a whit about that.

What is considered a generically good watt/port? Like more than enough to run pretty much any cam without thinking about it?

The power brick for the 123w version is huge, almost as big as the switch itself.

Poe should supply 15w per port so 8x15w=120w. I use poe for wifi access points that consume 11w. Ip cams are often under 7-8w. Some ip cam oriented poe switches offer 30w poe (albeit at 100baseT) so you can daisy chain 4 cams off one port. Your use case will determine what you need.

thanks! Need to upgrade my cameras also. So many limited RTSP cams these days. Frown FK WAN!

Blue iris with LAN AI detection is amazing and easy to setup.
What cameras do you recommend? Thinking about installing them but don't know how to run it thru the walls.

I was interested in getting this switch for port-channeling, and then I read this in the user manual:

The switch does not support Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP).

Sort of on topic - does anyone know of a good 2.5gig switch? I don't need POE. I'm thinking 1gig Ethernet is 1990's. With faster internet speeds and most Wi-Fi routers having a 2.5 gig port I want to future proof. Thanks

I'm assuming this is enough power to run 8 hd poe cameras with blue iris? Haven't started researching it yet but I know I need 6-7 cameras and this seems like a good deal
Isn't one of the ports needed for the uplink? If so that leaves 7 ports available. I did order this for cameras used with Blue Iris.

I will just move out to 10g switch tbh. In that case it will serve with 2.5g on high density routers as well as 10g on wired devices. Check out Microtik

So sure - though I suppose 10gig is a bit more money than 2.5g. I don't usually use my home as a LAN transferring large files between computers - just connecting to my router. ATM I only ave 300/300 but Fios offers 1000/1000 - and I suppose it will get faster - but 10gig? I don't think so. I recently say this 10G commercials - though that's just wireless.

I think it's a hit or miss. I have had times where they wouldn't do a price difference credit, but I just chatted with support and they gave me the $10 back. Might as well try and see if you luck out! Can show you a picture of my chat with them as proof if you need

great until you have warranty issue and they make you pay shipping...
For this price it's a disposable device.
