I also picked this up on the Samsung EPP/EDU sale around BF that made this a lower price. This is still a good price. I do love the monitor but keep these things in mind:

It's a VA panel, but a good VA panel.

The response time is 4ms. Personally, I couldn't tell you that three-thousandths of a second make much difference for most gamers, but whatever.

HDR is trash on this monitor. Don't bother. SDR is excellent and very bright though.

It is not GSYNC compatible. If you're getting high enough FPS, it's no big deal anyway. Speaking of which, make sure you have a good enough GPU to handle high frame rates at this resolution. I'm on a 3090Ti FE and getting about 120-150 in COD with fairly high settings. GeForce experience settings optimizer is your friend if you're not experienced with this resolution.

It makes some plasticky popping sounds when the screen turns on and off. Samsung says this is normal because of the expansion and temperature change on such a massive screen.

If you do PBP (where you use two different inputs and split the screen) you cannot use any gaming settings, like low input lag, and you are limited to 100Hz. Literally just found that out today.

As someone mentioned above, some older games don't work well with this resolution. Some will say they support it, but menus are messed up. Almost all games from the last 5 years or so seem to work.

That's all I have right now. I'll update if I think of anything else that might be helpful.

Was <$700 pretax last October (or BF?) but still a good price! Got one last year and was one of my most satisfied purchase of the year

OP should really update the title to say "...Odyssey CRG9 Series..."

What is your set-up to use something this large? I game/work on a standard size desk not nearly deep enough for a monitor this wide. Do you have it on an entertainment stand like it was a TV?
I keep getting confused about people talking about desks not being deep enough for a wide monitor. Shouldn't the desks be wide enough for a wide monitor? There's a totally flat ultrawide and someone said you need a deeper desk for a flat monitor than a curved monitor and now I'm even more confused.

A 8k version is coming out this year. I would expect a price drop after that is launched. It's a immersive monitor but I found the text clarity lacking unless you use 2x scaling, which also reduces the usable screen real estate.

Have this monitor for sim racing. Love it. Bought it for $750 from Samsung with gov discount and clicking the return button and then offer you like $70 off to keep it instead.

Misleading title -- this is the Costco version of the CRG9 at 120Hz and NOT the G9 with 240Hz.

Costco CRG9: LC49RG92SSNXZA

LG CRG9: LC49RG90SSNXZA

LG G9: LC49G97TSSNXDC (< $700 from last year's Samsung BF sales)
I think you mean Samsung, not LG. Out of curiosity are there any appreciable difference between the standard CRG9 and the Costco version?

The more curved the monitor, the deeper the desk is required. Because these monitors are curved, an increase in the monitor's width also means an increase in the monitor's depth. This monitor (the Samsung CRG9) is 1800R, which roughly middling curvature. The Odyssey G9 and the Odyssey Neo G9 are even more curved at 1000R.
I suggest you look at the photos in the RTINGS review Design section to visualize this.

The base depth of the CRG is 12.4 inches; adding the display itself the unit is 13.8 inches deep.
The base depth of the Odyssey G9 is 12.8 inches; adding the display itself the unit is 16.3 inches deep.
The base depth of the Odyssey Neo G9 is 12.7 inches; adding the display itself the unit is 16.5 inches deep.
My CRG9 is on a desk that's 30 inches deep, and I believe that's roughly ideal.

Another first world problem.

Do I play in 50"TV or 49" curved monitor? Let's burn some cash for new monitor

Sorry for noob question, does this natively (without software) get identified as 2 different monitors? I do a lot of screen sharing at work and don't want to share the whole 4k screen.. I am aware of sharing an app instead of a screen but that it would not help in my case.. TIA
Yes, the CRG9 can do Picture-by-Picture (PBP). That's how I normally use it for my work machine. It has 2x DisplayPort 1.4 inputs and 1x HDMI 2.0 input. You can set up PBP in any combination of 2 of those 3 total inputs using just the monitor's menus.

I ended up ordering the CRG for $688 through a recent SlickDeal in November. It's primarily for work (documents, spreadsheets, research, etc.), but it also allows me to have an immersive gaming environment in my downtime. I would have loved to have gotten the Neo G9 for future-proofing, but I couldn't justify the expense.

I needed to replace multiple monitors and the CRG9 was better suited to that than a normal ultrawide would have been. My particular use case involves sharing via MS Teams and making use of PBP on my work machine to avoid having to install FancyZones or Samsung's Easy Settings Box. On my personal machine, I can easily use such software and I don't do screensharing, anyway.

With the CRG9 at the price I paid ($688 - 12% cashback), I replaced my 3 old 1080p monitors, enjoy much better framerates and resolution, and entirely remove the bezels. My other option was to get the Dell S3422DWG to replace my oldest screen and keep using the other two.

I got this monitor (the CRG9) in November for $688 (and I got 12% cashback on that figure). This is an okay price, but I would watch Samsung's website for sales. The CRG9 has been below $750 several times within the past few months. It's nice (120 Hz, 1800R curve, bad local dimming) and it can replace 2-3 monitors, but $800 is a little much unless you must buy right now.

The Odyssey Neo G9 (240 Hz, 1000R curve, mini-LED) has often been on sale for $1151-$1200 and the Odyssey G9 (240 Hz, 1000R curve, essentially the same bad local dimming as the CRG9) has often been on sale for $700-$800.

was that including stacking the Microsoft Amex deal or just the sale price? I remember seeing something like that last year.

Can confirm the popping noise I have on mine too. Also as far as 4ms goes apparently its a whole marketing scam because they do gray-to-gray or something like that and the numbers are not actually accurate. I went from a 1ms to this monitor and cannot notice a difference.

For anyone wondering this monitor will also overclock to 144hz. I dont know what the hate is around VA, the screen isnt going to look like an OLED, but for 95% of people using it, it will be perfect if you want the screen space

Would you jump on this or hold out for the Odyssey NEO G9? (Not considering price comparison, but waiting for the NEO to go on sale)

This looks like the CRG9, not the G9. If this was the G9 I'd say this is a fantastic deal. The costco warranty might make this a good deal.
