Just an FYI on the 5% at Walmart, the second quarter of 5% cashback for Discover includes warehouse clubs. I typically buy the Sam's gift cards at Sam's Club and just use them at Walmart.

Don't forget you can also buy Costco gift cards at Costco.com and pay with Discover to get 5% cashback.

That's a good idea to max out the cash back instead of keeping track of individual purchases spanning the quarter.

Careful with amazon gift cards, Amazon may shutdown or restrict the account. Keep the receipts in handy if it happens.

im going to agree with anyone that says there are million different ways to easily get 5% discount at amazon and for sure, i wouldn't spend not even a penny of my disc card cb to enjoy 5% discount at amazon; not a deal at all unless this is your only option and if so, really sad because there are so many.

I don't believe they take discover at Costco (at least here in MN). 🫤
Nvm. Online purchases are different I'm guessing

Discover will count gift card purchases as eligible for the 5% cash back? I've learned something new. Thanks!!

Not an issue for most people. But if you use a LOT of Amazon gift cards, you may face the long and difficult process of proving that Amazon wrongfully terminated the account without properly refunding you the gift card balance.

Use for other than Amazon gift cards if you have Amazon card with always 5% cash back. Another hint would be to use cash back to pay a card bill, and do not use to pay for purchases.

Tempting, but I typically redeem discover rewards directly to my bank account and the apy's for some bank accounts are now 4%, so this is not giving you much extra money here. I would redeem for the 10% extra on starbucks if anything.

If you have Amazon credit card (which you must, if you were able to qualify to Discover), you get 5% on your Amazon card without going through hoops.

I fail to see deal here.
Unless Chase banned you in 2004 for a $30 fee which you refused to pay because it was their error. Chase handles Amazon credit

Anyone have a better card they usually use for Amazon other than their own CC? I've always held out on getting it, but not really sure why. Would probably be getting a lot better CB that way than banking more and more Chase Ultimate Rewards.

If you have a kroger store close you can use a card like Amex blue cash preferred to get 6% cashback (up to $6000 in purchases per year) on purchases, including gift cards. Do this during a 4x fuel points promotion on gift cards to save on gas purchases at kroger gas stations (typically a max of using 1000 fuel points to save $1/gallon on up to 35 gallons). Don't forget to use your best rewards card when purchasing the gas too.

We shop at kroger, use their pharmacy (get a few fuel points for each script, though the amount was reduced), purchase various gift cards during the 4x fuel points promotions, and complete the surveys (at the bottom of most receipts for 50 fuel points every 7 days). It all adds up to a decent savings on gas as I bring extra gas cans to make sure that I get all 35 gallons.

I hope this helps.

Why not use it at other stores that offer 10% or more? Amazon is getting worse and worse.

Yeah I would never use it for Amazon. I have their Visa card, and even though I'm piggybacking off a family member's account and only get 3% back, 10% on Starbucks or even 20% off my sneaker loving son's Nike bill is much more attractive.

I used to redeem for BBB gift cards and then use them strategically with their never ending $5 off $15 or $10 off $30 coupons. Bought more than I wanted there, but it came out better than Amazon and other places for kitchen tools.

Last I checked didn't see BBB listen anymore, maybe I missed something.
