My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

I do this yearly using my and my wife's names, alternating. I make a new Gmail account and self install with my own hardware. Going on year 5 with new customer promo. When I sign up it auto cancels my previous account.
Is there any downtime when you switch especially if going the xFi complete route. They send a new gateway so I'm wondering if I have to wait a few days to get the new modem to get my internet back up.

Slight thread derail here, but has anyone tried the new 10G offer? Price looks good but I'm wondering how the service is before ordering and getting a new modem, etc.

So I bit the bullet and just went for it. Here is my scenario:

1. I have an existing service with Xfinity under my name. 1 month left on the contract
2. I created a new account under my wife's name and purchased the new service with the same address.
3. I immediately got a cancellation email for my existing service, however my internet is still working.
4. We shall see if they cut me off eventually or if they will wait until I activate with my new xFi modem being shipped with the new service. Also assuming I will pay a small early termination fee since I still had 1 month left on my existing service.
I have the same situation as you, they called me today to come to Xfinity shop to show an id to prove I stay at the address as the old connection has not being cancelled. So went ahead and put in a cancellation order for my current account for today and start of new service for tomorrow and it worked may be 🤷 ♂️

That perk is permanently ending in three months for everyone.
so you're telling me I have 3 months to binge watch everything?
So if i signed up for a year of Xfinity, I still have 3 months left right?

Nice Deal. I was paying $110 for the 800MBPS Blast Plan for years. I just signed up for the 400MBPS plan. For anyone first timing this like me, here's what i did:

I signed up for a new account, i selected the plan (i did 400mbps and have my own modem), entered my CC info. Typed my home address, it gave me a message about address already exists and i selected new customer moving in. My old account got an email about cancellation 5 mins after. Unplugged my modem for 5-10 mins. Downloaded the Xfinity app, reconnected the modem and use the app to setup the modem again.
So they automatically cancelled your old account? you never had to call and cancel your old account? Was the account holder the same person for both the old and new accounts ? did you use the same your own modem for the new account?

I think I'm going to have to end up paying the $100. I live in a condo and last time I switched from comcast to WOW a tech needed to come out and go into the common storage area and unplug one cable and plug in another.
Shoot, that sucks. I'd try the chat with Comcast to see if they can waive the fee. I called them today on a different issue, and they're painful to talk to, so be ready for that, but it's worth a try. Well, it's worth $100 Smilie Good luck!

I have a current account and was able to sign up for this deal. The only email I got so far is one stating that my "Xfinity ID is now linked to another account" however, I see no evidence of the other account when I log in. Guess I have to wait for the equipment to arrive and activate.
I got the same. 99.9% sure you've not signed up for anything and you're not getting any equipment. Their website is simply insanely glitchy and lets you signup with a current contract in place, but than craps out at the very end.

Why are they giving extra discount for signing up for autopay using bank account? What's the catch here? With the bank account we can't obviously dispute charges. Is that why they are giving more discount?
with CC they need to pay 3-5% fees to vendor (visa, mc, amex), with bank account they dont need to do that. Auto pay ensure you are paying the bill every month on-time

yes my old account was under my fiance. I just signed up under my name and once I chose the same address, it auto canceled my fiance's account via email. I used the same modem I bought myself. once I was approved for service, I just unplugged the modem for 5 minutes, replugged it back in and use the Xfinity app to setup again.
