My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

How do you guys get out of the 12 mo contract? Apparently I was under the term contract and they wanted $10 prorated for the whole term if I cancel/reorder

just my $00.02 , first, Thanks OP and Slickdeals for this. ok, so, my 3 post I think. I was able to open new account in wifes name, after nearly 20 years and no love for established customer. got the Huge black modem. so, I plugged it in, Finally, had to go over to the neighbors house, use His wifi, used the app, activated new account, came home, bingo.... so, testing my pc, slow speeds... so, tested using phones and tablets, etc, Everything _except my pc, was getting nearly 100 Mbps. went hunting online/youtube... followed some instructions with flushdns and windsock reset...reboot, nothing really... so, figger, its my old little tablet/pc... so, I ordered a USB 3 to Ethernet adpt 110/100/1000 Should solve problem, right? ... later last nite, PC, started Fast speeds, adpt hasn't come yet... SO... I have NO idea, if I did it, or They did it, or What... for Years, I was paying for 100Mpbs, and, Fastest ever was maybe 50... usually 40's or Less... And, they kept raising my monthly... now, were I live, we have NO other internet options, cellphones don't even work here, so, am I Happy? for now, yes. I Still have to discontinue old service, AND, I had 2 comcast cell phones on a Very cheap plan befor... NOT sure, if I can Move them, or not... I will continue Readying this thread. SO, Thanks to Slickdeals, I have...Lower price, Higher speeds, and Unlimited data (yes, I was nicked a few times for overage befor)
thanks for reading, IF I can help, just ask, honestly, I'm not even really sure HOW to respond to a msg here...

ok, tried to disconnect with phone app... ALL I could find was 'Moving... so, went to pc, searched to disconnect, followed, Think I managed, we'll see. Just ANOTHER reason for government to regulate this horrible company... I am afraid to even Try to move my comcast phones over, I think I'll just buy a couple Trac phones instead... good luck everybody!
They sent me an email about my mobile lines saying I'd start paying $25 more per line or something. They also later sent an email that I needed to respond to some questions about the "move" to put the mobile lines on the new service. That might have been prompted by me going to the xfinity store to talk to them about this and they put a ticket in for the mobile department to move my lines to new account. I just ported over to another carrier. USMobile. Should be cheap enough for my limited cellular data usage.

I hope other here can help shed light on swapping the mobile service to your new account.

Did you ask them about it?
I remember 5 years ago, the xb3 rental had battery inside.
Because we don't want they would charge for missing battery when we return the xb3.

Good news: I was able to sign up and get the new price. Thank you so much.

Bad news: My primary account received the cancellation request which appears to go into effect at midnight. That means no internet all weekend and then on Monday they should ship the equipment so even more time without internet.

If you're getting their modem then you'll get a 2nd cancellation email pushing the end date out to 2 weeks once they ship the new device -- your old service will keep working past midnight

My Comcast internet has been out for several days. A branch fell and pulled the Comcast cable down.

For the first two days whenever I called Comcast about the downed cable their automated robot answering machine said there was a power outage in my area and they could not help me and hung up. No option was provided to talk to a person. My neighbors had working Comcast service.

For the next two days whenever I called the robot answering machine said there were no outages in my area, I needed to reset by modem. The robot said they could not help me until I had reset my modem and hung up. No possibility of talking to a human.

Somehow after many many calls I got through to a human and they scheduled a service call to fix the downed line.

A couple of hours later a Comcast service technical arrived at my neighbor's house to fix her downed line. I asked the tech since he was already here could he also fix my downed line. He said that was impossible.

Many hours later a Comcast technician arrived to fixed my downed line. Comcast sent the same technician that was at my house several hours previously.

I ordered with the self install kit. However, someone from Xfinity will need to run a cable from the box on the street to my house. How do they handle this - can anybody with similar experience comment?

It has been many years since I have had Comcast/Xfinity service at my house and the cable running to house has been damaged. Does anyone know how much they will charge to run a new cable to the house?
Quote from chapster :
Am I missing something?

How do you get the physical cable run to your house?

TIA
In my case, there was a cable running into the house. But looks like it was not being used in a long time. Hence was broken somewhere. They initially asked me to reset the modem, and try a few times. Then finally they agreed about setting up installation service with them. A technician arrived at the appointed date and time and ran the cable from kerb to the home. Earlier they used to leave the connectors all out in the open just lying around or loosely attached to the outer wall. when I asked the technician about it, he pointed to the AT&T Fiber box and said because of that. Another technician came few days later and buried the cable underground. You have to be home for the first one but not needed for the second one.

They charged me $100 for the installation service. I called them and told them it was not my fault that the cable to my home was broken. They issued a refund for me.

But if any run required inside the house. that may charge that separately.

Ok just got signed up. Wouldn't work over the website but got on chat and the rep sent me another link that worked. Was able to confirm everything before agreeing.

Once signed up I went to the xfinity app, activated the modem on the new account and was good to go. Total downtime, maybe 5 mins? Not bad for $1200 savings since I was paying 77/mo for the same service.

There's a usage page on your dashboard. They say it's off by up to 24hrs but I've generally found it pretty accurate.
