I have the 32Gb version and if you set it to Turbo it gets loud but if you keep it on performance, which I do while gaming, I don't notice it. This is a great buy at that price. Mine was $2100 with 32Gb and that stupid Anime Matrix crap. I am using mine right now across 3 monitors all at 1440p, one at 120hz, playing the next-gen update of Witcher 3 while surfing the web and watching HBOMax.
If you like the aesthetics this is a pretty good laptop even if not a gamer. Battery life is supposed to be great/macbook pro like 10-14hrs for non gaming stuff (obviously gaming is going to eat battery like crazy and unplugged power management will hit you on performance anyway) and you can drop it from 120hz to 60hz and disable the gpu if you really want to stretch it for school or work. I'm pretty sure you can upgrade the one upgradable slot w 16GB stick for a total of 24GB and 16GB (8GB on each stick) will still function as dual channel with the remaining memory not though I'm not sure of the penalties for that.

Get the latest drivers if you buy this. They're supposed to fix a lot of stuff and it's supposedly pretty solid now.
Most major reviewers said its silent unless under heavy constant load, in which case its loud but not annoying loud.

Have to take into account that it would be impossible currently to make a laptop like this silent unless you remove the dedicated graphics card which than ruins the whole point of this system.

Anyone have one of these? Interested but curious how hot/loud it gets under normal operation, web browsing, media viewing?

Thanks for the info. Gonna try my hand at an "Open Box-Excellent" for $1026 and return if it has any issues.

It depends on your settings. If you use eco mode during browsing and media it stays cool and real quiet.

Using turbo mode to play something like CoH3 or CoD, yea it gets hot and loud. But so will any small form factor gaming laptop.

I bought it open box last month for 1050 and have been using it everyday. No regrets.

This would compare more to a lower wattage (~95W) 4060 or 4070 depending on the game. It's hard to draw a really accurate comparison because of lack of data for different configs of the lower 40-series laptop chips right now.

There are ways to stop this. I use Ryzen controller to keep the temps down but like I said, the performance vs turbo mode also makes a difference. I have also not noticed any cpu performance dips with these precautions in place. The way asus has the cpu always on turbo causes the heat problems but lowering the heat in other ways doesn't effect performance. It's almost like under-volting. I don't know why asus has these CPU's maxed out because they don't need to be.

Maybe I should make a video of what I did and post to YouTube. There are other ways but I found ryzen controller the easiest to use.

I disabled boost on mine via windows power management setting. There's a tutorial on Zephrysg14 reddit how to do it. Options is hidden by default but you can make it appear through registry edit.

I've the 6700s variant of this laptop. Mine runs at 52c doing casual tasks. This guys yt has pretty good suggestions on what what to set to run it cooler. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bmacFQESU4

He also has another video on getting better battery life out of the laptop.
