Huh. Okay. Well a standard external mechanical hard drive will read write data about 100mbps and the mx500 ssd will read write data about 500mbps. So it's a lot less waiting when your transferring data back and forth.

If your upgrading a computer that has a mechanical hard drive with one of these, it's the difference of waiting a full minute for the computer to turn on, to waiting only 15 seconds for the computer to turn on with the mx500 ssd
One is 2.5 inch SATA and one is M.2 NVMe, and they're different capacities. I'm not sure what other aspects you're looking to compare? They don't really have anything in common, other than being SSDs

I always mix up the two, is the MX500 the one with the DRAM cache or is it the BX500?

If you are eligible for the "Amazon/Discover 30% of up to $15" deal, this can drop to $37 for 1TB.

For probably the 3rd best 2.5" SSD in this category (barely behind EVO 860 & EVO 870), that is a great price!

I'm stick with Teamgroup EX2, lower price and high induration (1TB/2TB: 800TBW/1600TBW).

Everyone's use case is different. Are you actually planning on writing that much? The MX500 is considered the higher quality of those two drives. This SSD should easily go 10 years and not hit the TBW limit, and that's assuming the drive is kept for that long and not upgraded.

tempting for a series x cold storage drive but then again do i really need it???

since i switched to tmobile internet at average 40-120 mbps speed from cable at 400 mbps, i feel like its a great idea to be able to dl games overnight etc and store them for easy retrieval later. but then again still, do I REALLY need it? maybe...i already have a external 1tb hdd on there.

at least its available locally via bb so i could pick it up tmrw.

just greedy at that point but i feel like i'd pull the trigger on 2tb for 50.

This and a $12 Sabrent SATA-to-USB adaptor and you've got yourself a nice external storage for Xbox One games.

What would be the benefit of this over a standard HDD storage drive? Asking bc I don't know.
