No wheels make these pretty heavy when filling up with beverages. I have had the stainless steel version for many years
Right. It's a conversation starter at a backyard BBQ because every guy there over a certain age will remember him or his dad having one back in the day. This would also be a good decoration in a man cave. There is absolutely no valid reason to have one of these today with the variety of good coolers out there other than the aesthetic and nostalgia factor -- especially if this was one of the colors they sold back then.
I have the silver version of this steel-belted cooler. Cool factor 9/10. Utility factor 3/10. Coolers in the sun aren't a good idea, but steel-belted coolers in the sun are a terrible idea. Hot Hot Hot

This isn't for in-store purchase but online only with free shipping, I use the Costco Citi card with various cash back and even though I don't buy much compared to the typical Costco shopper (I check out with less than four items usually) I make enough cash back where it pays for the membership cost itself

I bought one of these like 8 years ago for $35.
It's red and i like the color. It's heavy and has no wheels, so it not really portable. Basically i put it in my trunk of my SUV as for groceries holder. It keeps the meat frozen during hot summer days, so it buys me more time to go shop at different stores, or have a lunch without worrying the frozen foods in it.

True. I usually put a light canvas tarp over my cooler regardless of color.

There is a way to add dolly wheels to a cooler. Here it is as a product: Camco Heavy-Duty Cooler Cart Kit, Includes Durable Straps and 12-Inch Wheels, White (51798) https://a.co/d/eYn0JsC

I got the gray color one from Walmart over a year ago for $90 before tax. This is $20 cheaper but in different color. Still a deal comparing to what I got.

These are the old school coolers from the 80s. Most were dark green or a maroon.
how about the 60's and 70's for these kind. They are kind of hard to kill and work well.

Pretty solid product but $80 to add wheels to a cooler seems a little steep.

Agree. There's a YouTube video where a guy uses Harbor Freight wheels to make his own, though maybe there's a collapsible hand cart route that's easier. Some of the small-wheel coolers are pretty lousy rolls on anything but hard/smooth surfaces

Thanks for pointing out how hot it gets. I was thinking about getting this to hold beverages for backyard barbecues in the summer but it sounds like this isn't a good option.

Purchased 2, red also, years ago for same price.

I have a red one and agree completely. I have used the cooler in a fair amount of rough roads and I've had the latch lock come out of the lid a few times. It popped back in but I have my doubts on how many times it will pop back in.

If using it for a quick picnic it would be fine but probably not the best for a multi day campout.

Had one from the 80s. The latch is really slick, and it did keep ice for days. The original ones get big money on FBM and CL. This is a steal of a price. They were always maroon and green. Nice find.
