Before you buy this, make sure your motherboard supports and allows you to enable Resizable BAR or you will be very disappointed in performance:

I did a little online searching, and found this is supposed to perform pretty close to (in some ways slightly better, some slightly worse) than an RTX 3060. For $225, that's pretty good.
what would you recommend instead at this price point?

The other poster pretty much already answered you, but yes similar to Gamer's Nexus' reporting, Newegg has had abysmal support over the years. I have personally had to fight tooth and nail to get resolutions to pretty much any problem I found with an order from them. Throw in their forced bundling of products (during covid, you could only purchase in demand GPUs and CPUs if you also purchased things like power supplies that they were trying to move stock on.... One of which had known fire hazards... And other similar components you didn't want), aggressive restocking fees on returns, terrible policies (such as their dead pixel policy which I think has been resolved finally), and other various cases of predatory behaviors similar to what GN uncovered. You clearly start to see a pattern that they are not consumer friendliest at all. There's plenty of stories on places like Reddit etc. to see that there's an awful pattern with them.
It largely depends on the items in question and yes 100% during COVID the bundles were extremely anti-consumer. As far as their return policy goes, as long as it was stated that it's returnable I've had no problem returning things like RAM kits (and I've returned at least 6 RAM kits in the past 12 months with no hassle, not due to defects but change of mind for different builds). I have had no issue with them for motherboard returns (NEW not refurb/open-box) and RAM returns. They even give store credit if you purchased something within 14 days of the price dropping. I don't believe everything is that black and white, those who have had the worst experiences tend to cry the loudest.

I had this and returned it last month after doing all the driver updates. I was playing StarCraft which is an older game and was getting tons of screen flickering within the game with lights blinking everywhere, I felt like I was going to have a seizure. I went back and bought a 3070 and the issue was gone. Just something to keep in mind

If I'm not a game player and mainly use it with Photoshop or video editing. Is this good for me? I have an i7-12700k, 32g DDR5 ram, z690 mb, and a 32" 4k monitor.

Thanks for any advice.

Edgy people blanket hate on Intel because they're told to by YouTubers and others to why they must be bad but I'm really glad to see an alternative to Nvidia that could actually beat them in the future. Best of luck to Intel on their new venture of consumer grade GPU's that can actually play games pretty well.

6650xt too close in price, and better performance than this
6600 6650 radeons wipe the floor with this without the issues...this needs to be about 179 ish to be truly an option... INTEL would do damage in the sub 200 market .. its all right there for them

The A750 is a better deal than the 6650 XT when you look at the whole package.

A750 has ray tracing performance on par with Nvidia's 3000 series, RDNA 2 unfortunately has far far worse RT.

A750 outperforms the 6650 XT in newer games with new API. Though the 6650 XT outperforms it in older games or ones with older API.

A750 has AV1 encoding, only the brand new $800+ GPUs have it so far.

A750/Arc has better H.264 and H.265 encoding, both in quality and speed.

A750/Arc has AI XMX cores that allow it to accelerate AI workloads, like Gigapixel AI (which comes free with Arc), and a few Adobe features, and whatever else ends up using it.

A750/Arc can use XeSS upscaling, which has better quality than FSR 2, though it can also use FSR 2 if a game doesnt support XeSS.

A750/Arc is supported by Plex, AMD GPUs arent officially supported.

Drivers are improving, yes AMD's are currently better, but as we've seen since launch Intel is gaining performance on the competition.

Finally, you are supporting a 3rd competitor. Look at AMD and Nvidia's current gen pricing, its insanely high. The sooner we end that duopoly, the sooner we get GPU prices back to normal.
Any idea if the ARC boards have better h.265/HEVC encoding than, say, an i7-12700? I think it is Quicksync that helps the 265 encoding, correct?

My i7-12700 screams through re-encoding videos using h.265. If this were even magnitudes faster it might be worth a try...

Why not just do AV1?

A bad news to whoever wanna buy intel's gpu, their VP of GPU division was just PIPed yesterday.
I guess they might cut the discrete GPU division very soon, like they did around 15 years ago.
And if they do, they would dump these cards as quick as possible, huge discount should be on the way.
Just saying.
very interesting.

any source for this?

I stream media via Plex server and from what I've read, AV1 is not fully supported.

We use Apple TV 4K and various Apple and Android gear as clients.

Need to highest end a770 to go to $199. With all the driver and other incompatibility issues the price needs to be low to attract buyers.
