I have one and used it on some 2x4s and it does the job nicely. For that use, it's much better than the sanding I've done in the past.

If you play the waiting game, DTO does have this as a blem and/or reconditioned periodically at a lower price. I bought a recon for $35.00 from them last year. Granted, they will pack it like crap it you will have to inspect it and test it for straightness when it arrives!

Good point. Factory blemished(really new) is $75 shipped from DTO right now. But $70 from HD is not a terrible price either.

FWIW, Factory Blemished was $39 plus shipping just last week.

I got mine last January from DTO for $35 reconditioned, when they had free shipping sale.

Got the Wen corded from Amazon for $40. I owned the Ryobi corded version of this planer and the Wen was just as good. Really don't like dealing with battier powered power tools, but if that isn't an issue for you but rather a preference, then this Ryobi is a pretty decent planer, just be careful of the lever that redirects your shavings, mine broke pretty easily.
