People having problems with unlocking, was thinking of getting one to use with my current carrier but idk, will this work with Cricket? Or ATT specifically only. Unlocking the phone would be ideal.

Went on the app used the imei # and I'm waiting on an email. If I use the number it told me to wait 60 days. But I used the imei # and thar didn't give that message.

It'll tell you something like "the phone is already active in another account, it needs to be removed from that account first". I don't remember the exact wording.

No, you canceled the device in 14 days and you will be screwed , I just tried
Why do you say I am screwed? I am using the device right now with TMobile. Once a device is unlocked I don't think it can be locked again right?

some people say cancel then can unlock. Other people say can't unlock if canceled within 14 days. confused
It's really a dumpster fire at this point. I cancelled service out of frustration on wasting hours of my day. Then by some magic I got the unlock code from the att unlock website after cancelling. None of this makes sense and I guess a few of us have been lucky.

There are multiple posts here contradicting themselves as a whole, whereby it's hard to know what actually works and what doesn't.

eBarron, you got your phone unlocked via the online portal after cancelling service, but others, like Donutboi88 proceed to cancel service and then try to unlock and the unlock portal tells them they cancelled within 14 days so the device can't be unlocked...how can the portal be doing different things for different people that have done the same inputs? What is the missing piece here, there must be some variable that is different in these 2 similar seeming situations to yield an outcome that is different for one person than another (one's phone is unlocked and another's is locked, all by the same ATT unlock portal)...

I'm trying to think what's different here. eBarron said he made an ATT account before receiving his phone. donutboi, did you make an ATT account as well? Something is missing here...
Yea I made an account before calling them. The only different thing I can think of is that Ebarron25 transferred numbers he got from Tello but I requested a new number when I made the purchase at BB.

Here is what worked for me.
1. Obtained phone number from Tello.

2. Purchased at&t version from BB online for pickup. Received email from at&t to set up pin. Did that

2. Picked up phone yesterday from BB. They scanned the IMEI at this time.

3. Turned on device without sim card. Worked way through setup

4. Noticed no service so Tello wasn't ported immediately. Nor did it use esim for at&t.

5. Tried unlocking online. Received 60 day message.

6. Tried T-Mobile SIM and got to unlock prompt. Removed TMobile SIM and put at&t sim

7. Tested and saw outgoing calls with the Tello number. Incoming calls didn't work.

8. Chatted with at&t for 90 mins. They tried everything and couldn't get unlocked due to their "policy" even though I sent the link.

9. Called the number for technical support. Spoke to someone and then transferred. Call dropped and I reached my frustration point.

10. Went back on chat to cancel everything. They told me to call loyalty dept.

11. Spoke to loyalty team and they cancelled service. They stated no monthly fees would be charged.

12. Went on unlock website again. Entered IMEI and it worked.

13. Put TMobile SIM back in and go to unlock prompt

14. Entered unlock code and it worked!

I still don't understand why I received the code after cancelling. Hope this helps.

I just managed to unlock my device.

I replaced the Samsung Z Fold 3 in my account on the website with another random phone model in my profile (My Device -> Manage Device -> Device Support).

Go to the unlock page, now click on not a ATT account holder, submit your IMEI. It would not have the "phone is already active in another account" message. Sent in the unlock request. Confirmed the unlock request in my email, and within 10 min the unlock code was sent to me via email.

Another thing to share, i purchased this phone with "port-in" from a random google voice number that was available but i did not sign up for.

I have not cancelled my phone line but i am going to do it as soon as customer service is open.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Did you finally get your phone unlocked after filing a complaint?
