...its far worse than a poor fakespot

Please do not purchase these junk products thinking you will have any sort of surge protection.

A device could be stamped ETL / UL / ... or what have you, in itself that is meaningless

These suspect products are often are stamped as rated and are never submitted for said rating

Inexpensive (kind attribution for crap) are known to be shortcut by companies of no provenance

The rating is only valid if it continues to be manufactured to the standard of the sample submitted

...

Therefore in an SPD, or whatever, you would need to stick with Tripp Lite / APC or a similar manufacture with a vested interest in producing to spec

Your purchase must also come from a legit supply chain
Fakespot company = C
Fakespot product = C

Anyone have a suggestion for a larger capacity power strip like this that I can be reasonably confident won't burn my house down? Thanks 👍

At a former work, they only used Tripp Lite. I use them in situations like yours, where I don't want to burn my house or shop down. This is only one example of many configurations. They have some with ridiculous amounts of outlets, and some with less:

Tripp Lite 12 Outlet Power Strip with Surge Protection, 15ft. Cord, Metal, 36 in. length, (SS3612),Gray https://a.co/d/iGwWcey

If you are in any type of hobby group, such as woodworking, metal working, knife making, you may find some similar gear used, not just Tripp Lite. Or at your local swap meet.

But I've been using the Trip Lite brand for many years, no issues. I also like that the cords tend to be super long, have high AWG (ask an electrician, I'm not one), and the cases I have are actually *metal* not plastic.

Overkill? You bet. But it also is great for cord management in the shop, in my home server closet, and also secured underneath my sit/stand desk. HTH!

APC or TrippLite for stuff like this.

Everything else is pretty haphazard. Those two are owned by companies who make half the electrical in your home already (Schneider or Eaton). Not the cheapest but good quality stuff.

For surge protectors generally prefer Tripp lite. They have an indicator that will stop lighting up once it no long provides surge protection. That's a huge feature as surge protection is sacrificial. They all age out.

Much appreciated. Not OP but I only have two outlets in my living room and I want to hook up a mini fridge and water cooler to my office set up. I have a Belkin but I worry I would overload it. Will look into Tripp!

I recently bought this 7 outlet APC that I like for $13: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M8LCREB/

Best I think you're going to do for something with a lot of outlets is something like this 12 outlet Belkin for $28: https://www.amazon.com/Belkin-BE1...B000J2EN4S

The compact form factor of the OP seems to only be in these no-name chinese brands as far as I can tell. Anker makes something that looks like it but it's only 6 outlets. There has to be a reason why no one is shoving 15 outlets into a long 3-sided box like this, or really any power strip no matter what size. I'd guess the internal wiring is pretty thin.

Your Belkin and any Tripp unit will both be rated for 15A. There is no reason to think you would overload one but not the other.

That sounds like something my daughter would try. I'm surprised her house hasn't burnt down, as all she uses is space heaters. She has been lucky, so far, as the breaker has blown several times.
That said, I'm surprised a 15 outlet strip is even legal, let alone safe.

Costco has a pretty good deal on a four pack, just search for "CyberPower Surge Protector, 4-pack"
