I paid $145 in Feb 2022 for this thing. Still haven't filled the original ssd in my PS5, could have waited and saved 70 bucks.

Of course, back then there was the contamination issue in some plant that made SSD's, and I fell for the panic that prices could increase due to it. So much for that, eh?
Very very skewed benchmarks. Lots of people running the 980's in slower specd systems. Actual specs 980 Pro: 7000 Read, 5100 Write. SN770: 5150 Read, 4900 Write. This of course requires a system capable or running it at PCIe gen 4. There are other technical differences but the 980 is in almost all areas a better drive. For $15 difference 980 all day assuming you can get it for that price.

Over the past few months, there have been numerous reports of Samsung 980 Pro SSD failures, failures traced back to the 3B2QGXA7 firmwareReddit user reports suggest that the SSDs report a S.M.A.R.T. value of 0E (media and integrity error) or greater in CrystalMark or AIDA64.if your drive reports abnormal 0E or 03 values? Well, it usually means that your 980 Pro is on a one-way ticket to an early death

Wasn't there a firmware update to avoid getting the death sentence? It wont fix already broken drives though

I bought it for $220 in April 2020. Figured I'd buy a gen4 drive I'd actually notice the difference on and I have to say it has delivered.

If you change "Deliver to" for some locations Amazon says it can't be shipped, but for other locations it looks like it is out of stock. Not sure why Confused

At this price, you could definitely pick up extras as backup drives.

Too bad SSDs have to be powered up occasionally to retain their data.

Yes need to firmware update before this happens.
The only thing is need to use a computer to update it (doesn't help the people using it in PS5s)

With a gaming -laptop- do you need a heat-sink and does it even fit?
