Can't speak much to how this compares to alternatives, but this saw is yet to fail a task that I've thrown at it. The highest praise I can give it is that my father often steals it from me for trips when he has no interest in lugging along his Husqvarna 572XP. The EGO isn't a match for that saw, of course, but the point he often makes is that it doesn't have to be. For the convenience and simplicity offered from electric, this saw is great.

Grabbed one, thanks OP. Been waiting on this one to drop. 4ah instead of the 5ah battery it typically comes with, but I have a 5 from the mower so should supplement each other well.

Any thoughts on this vs. the greenworks pro 80V 18-inch with 2Ah battery for $290 at amazon?
This ego one has maybe 40% more battery capacity considering the 56V vs 80V difference.
Seems like the ego 5y tool warranty is longer than the 4 year (?) greenworks one.
Greenworks claims up to 150 cuts / charge.
Ego claims up to 220 cuts / charge.

For the small price difference I'd go on better quality / warranty / reliability and utility of the overall battery + various-tool-options ecosystem of one vs. the other.

Thoughts or other alternative products / models worth consideration?

How would the Milwaukee do compared to this? I think the bare tool is close to this, and I have a lot of M18 batteries already. I'd be fine getting this platform too because my mower is on its last legs anyway and I could then go Ego for mower as well

I just started reading reviews on this stuff so I'm a newbie without any personal experience -- but I seem to recall seeing some comment as looking for EGO reviews that the Milwaukee 18V isn't even remotely comparable since in this case you've got a 56V battery vs. the 18V battery on the Milwaukee. I do know a lot about batteries, though, and to get the same wattage (power) from an 18V battery as a 56V battery you're going to need around 3x (56V/18V) the current and that's probably asking a LOT from an 18V battery since there are limits of current and efficiency at high current for batteries, motors, etc. Also a lot of 18 inch chainsaws I see have like 80V, 56V, 40V or similar higher voltage battery designs and I think that's probably for good reason to get better power / efficiency from the motor and battery.
So I'd be skeptical about the M18 comparing to this in any way unless you can find more authoritative reviews to suggest so. I'm sure (assume) the M18 one is fine for smaller jobs but for an 18 inch unit that sort of implies one would expect it to handle physically larger jobs so....

"...Comparing the cutting performance to Milwaukee is almost unfair. Like EGO's 16″, it has a lower RPM, smaller gauge chain, and smaller bar. Still, it does very well at providing a lot of torque to keep the saw from stalling. There's no question in my mind that the EGO 18″ cordless chainsaw is in a different class from other cordless 16″ models, though."

I have this saw. Battery is huge and yet I get 20 to 25 mins on full charge, then need to charge for hours. I love the convenience of not having to deal with gasoline, but honestly, I'd rather get a well-reviewed gas chainsaw at this point as I have a few dead fallen trees and many branches to cut. I hate work stoppages.
