I have had both the 16 (2nd gen) and 18. The 18 can make longer cuts, has better battery life (5mah batter vs 4mah), has an led light, and it's easier to find 3rd party bars and chains. But mine wouldn't oil properly and the posts holding the bar stripped because they are made of plastic. The 16 is lighter in weight and a bit easier to handle, and the 2nd gen 16 is just as powerful. I think the 16 is slightly better engineered due to being 2nd gen. All in, I slightly prefer the 16 since most of my cutting doesn't need the extra bar length.

Correction: this deal comes with a 4mah battery, not 5mah. There is a version (cs1804) with a 5mah battery if the 25% extra cutting time is important.

All chainsaws I've ever owned leaked oil when not in use. Battery or Gas.

What I do now is I use a small funnel to pour the remaining bar and chain oil from the chainsaw back into the original oil container after I'm done with the chainsaw. No more leaks.

All chainsaws generate pressure while running in the bar oil tank to make it excrete the oil to lube the bar. After you are done running it, open the bar oil cap to relieve the little bit of pressure inside and it should help with leaking bar oil when not in use.

Really good deal. This 18" is a lot more powerful than my 16" 1st generation. I think mine came with a 5ah battery.

Do you know if this chainsaw still leaks oil while not in use or have they solved this problem?

Sucks to hear Ego has that problem too. My greenworks 80V does this and pretty infuriating. I normally lay it with bar facing the ceiling because I think it leaks out the hole that keeps the chained lubed up when being used. Also keep it in trash bag to prevent mess.

If you own a chainsaw, it leaks bar oil....
I own a Stihl, Husqvana and an EGO....
Place a plastic pan or liner under them and get used to it....
I don't put bar oil in them after using them until I use them again.
I use my EGO 16" alot for trim work, it works great....
I just bought another one today on the earlier deal....
