This is not a special price. It regularly goes down to $119 on Amazon. Checking CCC it was $119 just a few weeks ago.
FYI, someone recently figured out how to get this working on Linux/home assistant.
Yes, there is a integration for HA directly in the Stream Deck Store.

I use if for games and programs. One game I use it for chat scripts mostly. Once you set it to a specific game once that game launches it will switch to that interface. If you Alt tab out to a different program you have set it will go to that.
I have icons and pages set to "game a" and shortcuts to browser, chat commands, discord commands etc

Not if you're okay with the limitations of a touch surface. I used mine for AutoCAD mainly, and have all of my sometimes-used commands - ones which aren't one-character aliases, or bound to a single command - as a touch-type access area. I can switch between my keyboard and the StreamDeck with minimal sight-time away from my work. I also use as few toolbar/ribbon buttons on screen for commands as possible as well, as every mouse movement into and out of the work area is a loss of productivity. Using a tablet blind is difficult at best - it's the same problem as driving with touchscreen controls. A physical interface is simply faster, more certain, and more precise. It's also active 100% of the time and there are no non-interface areas (home buttons, swipes, crashes to the home screen and re-entering the app) - it plugs in and is ready to go in my application without interaction. If I did more Photoshop or Premiere work, or ever go back to mixing audio, it would be that much more useful.

Again, there's nothing wrong with a touchscreen, it's just a different interface and (imho) less suitable to a touchtyping+mouse workstation.

Appreciate the in depth response. Makes sense for productivity.

Why buy a desk when you already have a table?

for the MK2 can you set more than 15 keys? Like say set one button to swap to a 2nd page of keys?

Edit: You can. Neat!

What kind of shortcuts and commands do you use? I have the XL and don't use it as much as I want to, so I need some creative ideas.

This would have been a great accessory if it was wireless and can go by my bed or couch. When I am in a PC my hands are already in the keyboard and I can do everything with keyboard shortcuts and macros. I don't find this to be especially interesting at this price point.

This isn't a good price.

That being said, I have the Gen1 for $99 and am very happy with my purchase. You're mostly paying for the SOFTWARE experience. Tons of plugins that integrate with different software. For example Microsoft has a first party plugin for Teams that lets you control a bunch of things (including mute/unmute in calls, without the Teams window needing focus). Also, the per-application volume control they recently added is fantastic.

The LCD screens on the keys may seem gimmicky, and in a way it is, but it does allow multiple pages of icons that you can switch between, that while you can do blindly on other macro-key offerings, being able to see which page and what they do is a real winner. The only thing that could be better is twist-dials, but I'm not paying $200, and they also added a touch-strip which is icky (I am buying this because it offers haptics, so adding a gotcha zone is the opposite of my needs; see Logitech Remote Controls for an example).

- Interchangeable face plates (sold separately e.g., different color, custom printed design).
- Detachable USB cable (at the rear of the Stream Deck).

There's also a redesign on the stand, but you could argue either way which is superior. The electronics/buttons are identical.

The detachable cord is nice if only I hadn't gotten it sub 6 months ago! TY

I had a logitech kb with dedicated macro keys for YEARS but I never really bothered with setting them up. I got the mk2 and have been toying with it since. You may say it's gimmicky but something about the LCD screens, software and physical buttons make it a real treat to play with.

I've only scratched the surface of what I can do but I have a Spotify profile that will add/remove songs from various playlists and control where in the house my music will play. I've started scripting some simple macros for games I play to automate the tedious in-game tasks or to execute a sick combo with a press of a button. I've got a profile for Lightroom/Photoshop shortcuts that I use often and for workflow macros. Lots of potential for sure!
