Why so expensive for used one? I can buy a new one from Staple for 1/4 price.
Steelcase chairs are one of the best chair brands on the market. A previous sale I posted made it to the frontpage. If you sit for hours it's best to invest in a chair that provides long lasting comfort, great features, and good warranty.

You can buy lots of things from lots of places for less money than better quality options. You've never bought a chair on par with one of these for 1/4 the price new from any retail chain though.

You can, however, find them sometimes used on marketplaces for much less, when offices and call centers close or update and get rid of all their furniture.

While I can't fault the company, I do find it absolutely mad that you have to pay hundreds-to-thousands of dollars to simply get a decent desk chair made of metal.
I used to work @ an office supply store, and can recall how inflated even our mediocre office chairs w/ metal bases were.

In watching some video of this company's chairs, I find it absolutely unacceptable the amount of plastic in the armrests. Additionally, I noticed 'flashings' on the plastics' edges. (just like every sub$200 chair I've ever seen)

If you're paying this kind of premium, the furniture better have been hand-finished.

I think the Leap V1 is the best bargain of Steelcase's chairs. For me it's just more comfortable than the v2, and they can be found for next to nothing on marketplaces or 200$ refurbished online.

I have to agree. I have two mid-grade mesh office chairs which I got on sale from OD or Staples for >$200, and recently got a Leap V2 from work. While the build quality is certainly a bit better, I find comfort similar between the three. I'd never pay twice as much for the Leap let alone these outrageous prices.

I got the Steelcase leap v2.

Where these things shine are the 4-way moving arm rests.

Goes up and down like any other.. But they also slide forward/backwards/left/right/ then it kinda rotates to match however your elbow flares out when resting on the table.

Just curious. What makes the v1 more comfortable than the v2 for you?

I bought a Steelcase Leap v2 refurb from a popular Ebay seller. We had to assemble it, including putting in the hydraulics. Well, the hydraulics started to fail after a few months. I contacted the Ebay seller because it's under warranty, and they wanted me to send the whole chair back for the hydraulics, which we've already proven we can install since it didn't come installed.

Before dropping money on a chair like this, ask how the warranty works for little things. If it's something easily user replaceable, are they going to make you send the whole chair in or will they send out the part? Or do you simply ignore the warranty and buy the part on your own?

Aside from the hydraulics thing, it's a great chair. It is way more plastic than I had expected for the price, but so far, it's holding up well.

I have the Steelcase Leap v2 as well. Got it refurbished from a dealer near me for ~$600. Best lumbar support I've had in an office chair and tons of fit customization options. Well worth it to me since I spend 8+ hours a day in it. 10 year warranty is also nice to help justify the cost. If I need anything fixed it's free shipping there and back on top of the free repairs.

Yes definitely look into the warranty details. I also looked at an eBay seller for mine (Madison Furniture I believe) and it cost like $150 to send it there and back for repairs since they didn't cover shipping.
