It has to be on level ground, if it is in a slope at all, you are going to have problems. We spent a few days digging and clearing to make a level spot for it to get it right.
The included pump is under powered and does not do a good enough job. Upgrade to a sand filter system rates for the size and you will have a much better time.
The included ladder works, but it can be a bit precarious for the very young, older folks or after a bit of day drinking.
There are a bunch of "mods" you can do if you look around on youtube. For instance I replaced all the flexible tubing with pvc pipes and added a water fall feature.
This is the pump I am using: INTEX 26645EG SX2100 Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump for Above Ground Pools, 12in https://a.co/d/gIpRlx6

it does not have to be as level as they claim, or even close. however i would not suggest anyone take my advice if that makes any sense lol. just in case, i am not liable.
honestly the friend i set it up for doesn't even use the pump at all. even though i advised it. during summer, they basically filled it up, used it for a couple weeks, maybe shock it to clean it once, then when the water goes bad dump it and start over. they dont necessarily use it continuously. also the one they have is a bit smaller than this (maybe 12x48? it's deep but not as wide) making the dump strat more feasible i guess.
anyways imo this type of pool is pretty great now that i've experienced one. they were closer to 600-1k at times when i bought, maybe spurred by covid shortages, maybe by the summer heat, this price is crazy good to be normal now.
oh, there is quite a learning curve initially even in these small pools though, with the chemicals and such. i feel like i've got the basics now though.

not knocking your experience but, i was terrified cus all the youtubes made it seem like everything had to be just perfect. got it, set it up on pretty non level ground, one side several inches lower than the other, bumpy ground (albeit, just a heavy duty wal mart tarp thrown underneath intended to prevent grass from growing through the bottom) the bottom was kind of scrunched up in spots, etc etc etc, it worked fine the water was noticeably listing a few inches to one side, and the pool was fine.

Regarding the leveling, our backyard was slanted way more than we thought I guess. After our first attempt at leveling we could only fill it about 2/3 of the way and even then it was precarious. We wound up having to dig into the ground and then move the dirt to the lower end and built a retaining wall to make it work. So my experience definitely colors my commentary as always ymmv 😀

This is a healthy data point for us who naturally fall into a vicious cycle of perfectionism
So i took it down, dug it down, and did the best i could to level it given the situation. Its settled about 2" off on one side; to me thats fine usable.
The pump that comes with it is garbage... dont hesitate to upgrade to a sand pump. I upgraded to a sand pump and salt water system; best upgrade i have done yet. Its a bit of an overall learning curve to balance the water/chemicals correctly but once dialed in, there is hardly any maintenance along with the salt water system automatically working.
I live in MI and some winters are harsher then others; i do keep it up year round and have had no issues yet with leaving it up during the winter: i would ensure that you winterize properly and this is not an advisory just fwiw.
For the low cost of the pool, if something tears or damages after a few years, ill repurchase and drop another one in.

On a side note, if you get one, I can't recommend enough investing in a salt water filter. They're expensive, but it makes the pool maintenance free and will pay for itself in a season from savings in chemicals. We got this one and have had the pool up for two years. We haven't had to do anything to the pool water during the season (I do take the pool down in the winter). https://intexcorp.com/products/ab...flow-rate/

100% agree. we have a. 18' round pool. have had it for years. sand filter. salt water pump. bubble wrap looking cover to warm it up. 100% perfect. salt pump is way better for your skin too. last year i cut a squar in the side and added one of those pool filter things like on cement pools +++

All the Intex pumps are 1.5inch inlet size. Bestway inlets are 1.25inch. How did you adapt to the smaller size?
They sell reducer valves on Amazon. There's a bunch of YouTube videos with people showing the hookup process.
