I think 6-cup like this is suitable for 2-4 ppl with some leftover depending on how many servings you eat. there are 3 cup versions ideal for 1-2 person. Then there's typical 10-cup for larger families.

Is 12 cups going to be way too big for 2 people who don't regularly eat rice?
Yeah my mom had a made in japan Tiger rice cooker that lasted like 10yrs with heavy usage daily. I have a Z water boiler that lasted about 7yrs+ until it needed a new lid.

Agree. I'm still using my 10 cup Neuro Fuzzy Z that I got roughly 14 years ago. That's with heavy use of about 4-5 times a week. This Japan made "spaceship" still cooks rice perfectly just like the day I bought it! You can't sway me to buy another brand TBH.

Same here. The only reason for an upgrade if it dies (in which case I plan to splurge on ab induction Korean Cuckoo or higher end Japanese made Zojirushi or Tiger). I generally only make sushi rice and it does so perfectly every time.

There are literally 2.5 billion people in Asia, so your statistic really means nothing. Even if your stats are correct that's 250 million people with electric cookers.
Anyone that can afford an electric rice cooker has one, because cooking rice in a pan is a tremendous PITA.
It's like churning butter. Why the heck would you do it if you didn't have to?
I've had my Tiger rice cooker for 20+ years (crazy when I stop to think about it). The inner pot is no longer the same and debating on whether I should just get another Tiger or consider a brand like this.
I like how it tells us "cooks white rice in under 30 minutes", but tell us how long it takes to cook BROWN rice. I had a Zojirushi that I bought from Costco long time ago which takes 2 hours to cook brown rice. I don't need my rice perfect - rather prefer quick.
Trust me. Your cooker did a favor to you. Brown rice is tougher than white rice but has more nutrients. Slow cooking makes brown rice less tough and keeps more nutrients. You can cook Brown rice with other options. Edible but not pleasant.

A bit of history of rice cooker. Z and Tiger were the best rice cooker. I believe they are still top brands. Why Cuckoo? Because of the induction technology. Cuckoo completely reversed the rice cooker competition by using the induction which is based on the old Korean cooking method. Since then Z and Tiger lost their market a lot and started using the induction method for theirs too. I would feel comfortable with any of these brands now. But Cuckoo is leading the trend. The model in the deal seems to be the lower end model. It will cook rice well. But, there are no frills like GABA or induction.
these rice cookers should be banned. they make rice taste too good, which isn't good for people looking to maintain their weight and stave off diabetes.

I [walmart.com] have this exact model and I love it. My favorite feature is the timer, I can set the time when the cooker starts. From my experience, it takes about 20 mins to cook the whole pot of rice
Thank you.
