I personally prefer crimping connection over solder connection since it's generally more resilient to vibrations and tension. You will need to spend $25 on a real crimper though, you shouldn't just use a needle nose plier.
These are very temporary and a basic cold solder joint. I have used a lot of these in my Christmas LED display to replace 1 pixel which requires 6 of these solder sleeves per pixel. They are good in a pinch, but when I put the display up the following year, most have become brittle from the storage heat or have lost their "bite" on the wires. I end up doing a normal solder and heat shrink tubing when I pull them out of storage before going back into the display.
