Maybe keep a small amount of immediate emergency cash in a local bank branch?
I don't know what sort of emergency somebody might have where they would need a huge amount of cash immediately, but even if I were to get hit by a bus later today when crossing the street and I end up in the ER on life support, I wouldn't have any immediate need for cash.
You can get a range of brokered CD ranging from 1 month to 60 months they are currently paying around 4.4-5% at least you know the rate is fixed for that duration.
And a CD, where you have to lock up your money for a certain time period is not the same thing at all as a savings account.
