I would avoid this deal until they get their shipping issues resolved. My brother had to return 2 separate orders because they sent him 2 left speakers both times. One white and one black. He had to raise hell on the second return because they wanted to charge him $15 each return for a ups pickup. The first one we had to borrow a truck and haul it to ups ourselves because of the pickup fee. I know there's other SD members who had this same issues with their last sale
It's great you came around to realize your warehouse issues and you're making a good faith attempt to reconcile this with us here on SD and I'm sure all customers affected. I ordered these as a gift for my brother's birthday, and that order unfortunately was part of the mix up. The principle issue I have with your company, is that regardless of your atonement after the fact, it remains clear that your CS policy is to place cost on the customer for returns even when reported as incorrectly shipped items, a clear error on your part. That will forever stain your company's reputation in my eyes and my family's. No amount of discounts is favorable over principles, and as a consumer, not supporting your business with purchases knowing your policies is the best we can do. Change that policy and retrain your reps. At minimum instead of immediately actioning cost on the buyer under this specific umbrella of merchant error, procedure should be to escalate the matter to investigate further, rather than disrespect your customer out the gate.

They ship you the wrong product. CS is terrible and expects you to drag around a bulky 65lb box to return? They should absolutely schedule a pickup on their dime.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that our mistake has caused. The warehouse had a mix-up which, after reviewing our inventory, has been rectified. The correct speakers will be shipped out. However, if you are still waiting for your replacements, please do not hesitance or reach out to us via phone (800-815-0702) or email (https://www.adorama.com/help/contactus) for the latest updates.

I had the same issue in 2020 with 2 subs and 2 powered towers unfortunately they stopped offering replacement amps. They said I had to ship my products to California (3000 miles from me) pay a deposit of $300 per tower (I forget what the deposit was for subs) and if they could repair then I would either have to pay more if they determined the repair would cost more than $300 or if it was less than they would deduct it from the deposit. I switched brands and unless you are handy with fixing electronics I no longer recommend their powered products. Since then my other 2 powered towers started making humming sounds that steadily got louder to the point they were unlistenable. Now all 4 and 2 subs are stored in the basement. Maybe when I retire some day I will take up electronics repair as a hobby?
Had issues with this merchant for speakers before. Center channel dome driver was dented from poorly repackaged open box speakers and they didn't want to send a replacement (offered $50 discount). Took awhile for customer service to make things right. Customer service outsourced to call centers in the Philippines with specific instructions on how to handle things - typical way to keep costs low and max profits.
I haven't had experience with their CS, but their sales team isn't any better. In my (limited) experience, the best ones showed a 'holier-than-thou' attitude and the worst ones were outright rude...as if they were doing the customer a favor by talking to them.
How is the quality of Definitive nowadays? The only product I've owned from them is a compact sub whose amp went out at the three year mark. They fixed it for me, but it was $85 to ship it to them.
They sound pretty good, for this price I can't think of a better deal. Pretty neutral mid-range, non-fatiguing, they do great with movies and are also pretty solid with music.
I ordered the (D17 pair + center) last Friday. They arrived yesterday. Thankfully, it was a matching set (all white) with the correct left and right speakers. So either I was lucky, or Adorama corrected the fulfillment issues they had earlier.
As far as the speakers go, the D17 towers are HEAVY. Each speaker is 64 lbs. The speakers were shipped in their original retail box and the packaging protected the speakers well (box had blemishes but no damage). The build quality is excellent.
These speakers are replacing a set of Def Tech Mythos One towers and Mythos Three center that I have had for 18 years. I have them paired with the Def Tech PowerField SuperCube I subwoofer.
Of course, I'll need to break-in the speakers with at least 100 hours of usage, but I gave them a test run with some THX clips and the 2:15:00 clip from Top Gun Maverick. Sounds great to my ears since I'm already accustomed to Def Tech's sound signature. Given my initial experience with the purchase and listening, so far I'm a happy customer.
For the price and barring any shipment issues, I would certainly recommend this deal.
Note: These are passive speakers, with no built-in subwoofer amp. Each speaker has 2 side-firing 10" passive bass radiators. I would also recommend this if anyone is concerned about the internal amps going bad, which was reported on their older BP series towers.

I finally got my replacement speaker yesterday. Was not without a significant amount of effort. Still waiting on the price adjustment. Rep last week said it'd be done by EOD. Called back and rep on Monday said it'd be done in a few business days. Nothing yet but at least I have a matching set.
Had an issue with my first order with them sending me 2 Left D15's. Saw the D17's went on sale and was a little hesitant but returned the D15's and got the D17's. Second order was correct and couldn't be happier with the speakers. Really nice pair for the price.
