Note that the PSU is 400W

That's fine for what it is now but it will limit future upgrades

I am absolutely floored this system is SHIPPED by Microcenter. Almost all of Microcenter's deals are in-store only.

With that in mind... There are 4 DIMM slots, here is the manual [lenovo.com] along with the Product Page. [lenovo.com]

Seems like a decent deal.

Just upgrade the video card instead, can sell the 1660 for $150 on Ebay.

Would this be a good system for a kid also to play Fortnite on that is faster than a PS4 - hate to ask that but is what it is. Thanks.
Yes yes yes , this is way better . I wouldn't even compare the two.

I see the Antonline deal has the i5-12400f, user benchmark says it is a better processor but it is an extra hundred. How much better is the processor and is a 6600XT worth that much more than a 3050?

Sorry, have to disagree with you. By the time Frys closed and for several years preceding their closures, they went waaaay downhill. I shopped at multiple Frys since the early 90's and can tell you that a comparison between the stores back then and to before closing was night and day. Back then they had staff that actually had knowledge of their products so in addition to having the cool gizmos and gadgets as you describe they also had staff who would not only serve you but were able to guide a purchase with input because most of those employees were geeks also. Those staff were replaced with cheap labor and staff became not only non attentive but had no knowledge of the products (not to mention the communication issues due to language barriers of many of the staff), they were basically key holders that opened the case for you for items behind the counter.
I will agree with you that it was nice to have Brick and Mortar stores in general because as you say, you can't replicate the feeling of being in the store by shopping on Amazon, but that is more of a sign of the modern era than anything else and is happening across industries (I feel bad for kids nowadays that they don't have Toy's R' Us or Kaybee Toys to walk into wide eyed). So yeah, aside from the free after rebate blank DVD's and free paper shredders I can't say I really miss Frys.
of course, the staff was replaced, but you cannot expect local store staff to compete with the knowledge online. What matters is they still had all the products, they still had great offers, and they had many things you couldn't find online. e.g. you need some small electronic parts. replacements, home tools etc etc, what are you ging to do - join Prime, hunt for a good deal, hope it gets here in 2, more like 4 days, or go to Fry's and get it?

Frys. ToysRUs, Sears all kind of local stores are gone.

I've never heard or shopped from Antonline, but $100 is definitely worth the difference between 5700g v 12400f and 3050 v 6600xt.

Honestly tho, 3050 is a sh!t card and basically anything is a step up from that. (Except the 6500xt which is straight trash)

Well of course, their original customer base was more high end, technical people/engineering people, as the stores were based near those industries.

As the customer base went down market so did the staff. It wasn't just one or the other.

Antonline deal comes with i5 and gtx 3060 which is totally worth the extra $100.

I loved Frys even before I could go there regularly (I was in CA for college...so no car), especially their themed store designs. However, their website was always bonkers to me (I was a HUGE fan of outpost.com...out Amazon-ing Amazon with their free overnight shipping). Never a fan of it. Always went to the stores

Seeing all of the mobos on display, combos, and the most esoteric electronics components (crossover cables, mobo standoffs, or even controller chips for fixing up your emulator boards)...no other feeling like it. Id literally go to the store as part of my vacations when I went to visit friends.

I agree with the other poster, that the staff became less technically savvy as the population shopping there changed; kinda correlates with when they started stocking anime DVDs (late aughts, early 2010s?). It is quite funny as this was around the same time when other stores started keeling over (CircuitCity, CompUSA).

As I type this while watching my 3yo play with grandpa, I feel a sudden need to pour one out for all of the experiences that I, and my parents, had, which my kids wont have because of the decline of retail. The closest thing to a Toys R Us is some sad combo of Five Below and the kids section of my local Ikea Frown

That all being said, THANK GOD that Microcenter has not only survived, but flourished in the past few years. It is almost an anachronism how knowledable the staff are at my local one. Maybe it is a sign of my age and how little I have kept up? It is even more of a paradox as to how they cheap they are (relatively) versus online outfits. I would have gotten the Ryzen combo deal in the other thread if I actually had the need...or the TIME, to build a rig. If I were 5 years younger, I probably wouldve gotten this rig for my mom, but even she has moved to IPad-ism.

If any of you have time, I recommend looking up some videos from the psychologist Jonathan Haidt, specifically ones where he talks about the changeover with kids born after 1995. The correlations with the end of the millennials and start of gen Z explains quite a bit about retail (unintentionally).

I believe you need a usbc to hdmi converter or cable to use the onboard not sure what the res limit is but hoping it can be 4k@60 via onboard with the right cable.

I agree it is kind of dumb not having a standard HDMI out on motherboards that support processors with onboard graphic chipsets.
Not just supports onboard graphics, but it's one of the highest end APUs that AMD released this generation. I want to repurpose the video card and use the rest as a HTPC, but the poor MB connectivity kind of ruins that.
