Super fun car for the money, just know what you're getting into: at some point, something IS going to break, and you're going to have to take it apart to fix it. The faster the RC goes, the harder it runs into things.
I got tired of seeing this thing on my workbench after the third time it broke in a year with fairly light usage, and now it's been sitting in my garage for another year waiting for me to crack it open again (something with steering this time).
I didn't even drive it that hard--this car just kind of straddles the two worlds of "very fast hobby grade RC" and "budget plastic parts grinding on each other". By the time you replace all the plastic stuff with metal, you probably should've just bought a more expensive RC.
As great of a deal as this car is (I actually got it for $60 a couple Christmases back), it's kind of hard to recommend to someone who doesn't know what they're signing up for. It's going to absolutely blow the doors off of all the junk you've tried off-the-shelf at Target, but it also might leave you wishing you bought just a liiiiiitle bit more car.
If you do go with this I'd recommend ordering at least 3 to 5 spur gears and diff cups when you do. Ours chew through those like mad. Otherwise a great RC.
The Boost Line up looks really great as an alternative and probably why this one is marked down.
I have two of these for my Son and I, from previous sales and have been enjoying them for at least a couple years now. The only upgrade was a 7500 battery. I Highly recommend.

Thanks OP. Bit the bullet after so many years. I wanted something so bad similar to this as a kid, but no one could afford it for me. I hope my kid likes it and we can enjoy it together.
1/10 DEERC 4WD, Amazon, $100. Use it to chase my dogs.
Will a full size 7.2v Lipo battery fit in this? From what I can see in the photos it will not, but that do not give a good shot of the chassis with the body off.
do these work straight out the box? never spent this much money on RC before but i want a decent one to tie a rag to and let my dogs chase it around grassy hills... TIA

nope they are small batteries that fit in those 9205e cars. Lots of different brands selling the same car with a different roof. I just got one for my daughter. I'd go with the Arrma 4x2 any day over the DEERC 4x4.

Yes, I have 2 of these already, at least some variation of them. I think they are great for the money. The one truck has held up to some fairly serious punishment for over a year from my son (5 y/o). The only drawback is the small batteries. I wish they would stretch the chassis just a little bit more so I could cram a full size lipo in there for longer runtime.

Install batteries and go. Not the best for grass. Grass really tends to show the cars and eats up the batteries.
These are great. I have upgraded mine to brushless and 3s and it's a beast.
What does this mean, and can you provide links? Both of my are no longer working (wheels don't turn when 'gassed'.. they spin freely) Not sure if I need new motors or what.
My kid has a YouTube channel (RC Alex). A year or so ago this was hands down what we would tell young kids to start with. Arrma came out with the boost range of cars, and now that is what I would recommend. The voltage will always be 2x4. A boost can be made 4x4 for $40. As you get better you can get a brushless system from eBay or Jennys RC for very little extra. If you are interested in RC give my kid a follow he is Arrma, Traxxas, Team Associated, and more.

Just wait if you can.
20 years ago you had to go nitro to get the speed...and it was fun. But times have changed and electric is definitely less work!

While using it, I lost one of the axles connecting to the wheel for steering and it's been tabled since. Where can I find a replacement axle for it?
Found it. It's a suspension arm. https://www.amazon.com/Arrma-Susp...077XND42
