I can't speak for the GOG version but definitely one of the greatest games there is.

Also, "Note: Steam account required to play"... Seems doubtful that you need a Steam account for GOG.

Ps3 has the trilogy remastered in hd, 360 has some of the remastered games but I think one or two were cut from that version (don't remember which) but it should be on Xbox bc. Ps2 had a trilogy re release of all the games in a 3 box collection which is what I own, not sure how rare or collectible that one is but I'd imagine it's easier to find than the original ps1 version.
Edit: Forgot to mention, vita has the hd collection, although it's probably similar to xbox from what I recall.

It truly is. This is the first game I can recall that I was in awe of right from the beginning. It was very cinematic with he credits rolling as you first take control of Snake.

Bought this a while back. Huge fan of the series but never played the ps1 original( started with the remake on GameCube) game holds up pretty damn well

Top 5 game of all time for me. That last boss took me a ton of times to beat. Used a book as well for hints to make it through

Great game, not a great port. I'd recommend emulation, without spoiling, some gameplay elements aren't suited for things like a lack of controller ports and this port doesn't deal with it well.

The PS3 HD collection was 2&3, but the PS2 collection had the PS1 disc in a PS2 style case. MGS1 will work on any PS3 as they're all backwards compatible with PS1.

Can anyone tell me why I should consider paying $7 for a 23 year old game with graphics that will make me want to turn it off as soon as I see them? And if it's so great is there at least a graphics overhaul mod?
