So they can sell 2tb for $84 🤣
It'll work, it just doesn't meet Sony's recommended speed so you might get a message about that after formatting it to your PS5. The only real requirement for the PS5 is that the drive must be Gen4 interface.

The truth is that most people won't notice any difference between a Gen3, Gen4, or Gen5 SSD. Maybe Kingston figures that consumers only want to see the PCIe Gen and the capacity on the specs. Or maybe it's because the PS5 requires Gen4, but doesn't actually seem to need Gen4 speeds, and so this product exists to provide an inexpensive SSD that will enumerate as a Gen4 PCIe device.
A lower amperage would have a lot more impact on lower temps. Though slower speeds could allow it to run at lower amps.

Gen 4 SSDs are designed with newer PCIe 4.0 interface which provides higher bandwidth and improved performance compared to the older PCIe 3.0 interface found in Gen 3 SSDs. This often results in a more efficient and cooler operation, even when comparing SSDs of the same speed. Keep in mind that not all Gen 4 SSDs will be more efficient or cooler than their Gen 3 counterparts, but on average, you can expect better performance and thermal management from Gen 4 SSDs. Always check the specific specifications and reviews of the SSDs you're comparing to get a better idea of their performance and thermal characteristics.

Thanks for any tips.
I wouldn't bother paying more for Gen 4 in your case. A higher end gen 3 would probably serve you better. I recently got the 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus (gen 3) refurbished from Best Buy for $99, but the 1TB is currently available for $39. Only a matter of time until they reduce the 2TB to ~$80
