It's way better than a Chromebook. Make sure you modify the power limit and graphics settings in bios (watch ETA Prime youtube vid) to double the performance. You can't beat this value for the cpu and 16gb (soldered) ram and 500gb m2 ssd. Free upgrade to Win11. Limited bloatware. Refurbished units pop up on walmart for ~$260 of the 14" model.

I bought the 15" model last October for $300 (has numeric keypad), works great. The webcam is poor quality. Speakers are okay. The screen is a decent ips (no issues with it falling out like some reported in previous deal threads). They keyboard is nothing special. A tad heavy but it uses metal/limited plastic so build quality is average. The battery only lasts ~3hrs unplugged w battery saver browsing web/watching youtube/movies.

It has older wifi 5 & bt 5. One thing I noticed though is my HDMI output can only do 4k at 30fps, not 60fps so not really watchable. 1080p HD looks fine hooking up to TV though. I'm not sure about the usb-c output resolution.

It has a hatch in the back to add a backup m2 ssd drive (Leven JM600 1tb $40 off amazon).

Just to let everyone know the ssd drive is sata. Only 550mb per sec transfer.
Given that it's still very snappy. Have 2 of them and work just fine.

Same price during Christmas season, several times. I bought in December & am pleased. Of note, problems w/ fingerprint reader was mentioned by several people & I affirm that. Repped.

it depends on the game. The iGPU ( Intel Iris Xe Graphics) would probably be comparable to something like a gt 1030, or maybe a bit better. You can probably run newer AAA titles at 720P with a somewhat decent frame rate. You can probably even play some games at 1080p on medium or high. If you are looking to buy a laptop specifically for gaming, I would spend a little more and go with something like this: https://slickdeals.net/f/16634162-lg-ultrapc-refurb-15-6-fhd-ips-i7-1165g7-gtx-1650-ti-16gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-599-99?src=jfy&prop=rcmid-e75c33e1b99c40b8a925d78874367368

Older AAA games should run 1080p @ 60fps. Newer more demanding titles like Days Gone you can expect 720p at 30fps.

I bought two of these around November. Gave one to my mom because she needed a computer for work at an elementary school. Haven't heard anything, so it seems to be working fine for her. The other one I reformatted and installed Manjaro Linux to be used as my primary and portable coding environment. Still pleased with this purchase. Had been looking for a well priced laptop with SSD and 16GB ram. This fit perfectly. I run docker images for databases, serving applications, plenty of browser windows/tabs for testing and reference, as well as a plex server. The touch pad is kind of in a spot where it accidentally gets clicked when typing with the way my hands rest. The rubber feet on the bottom don't seem to have the best adhesive, I've already super glued one back into position and another one looks like it's starting to slide around so I will have to give that one the same treatment. If you're not trying to game on this thing, it will be a great little work horse for you. And also seconds as a nice media device watching 1080p and streaming/casting it to my tv. Haven't tried 4k yet, but 1080p is flawless through plex.

You wasted money on a more expensive, crappier laptop model, and you even made it worse by nerfing it. Show us your deltas of cpu thermals and battery performance.

I love these cheap throwaway laptops but …..Ram is soldered on and no extra slot and my assumption is one channel.
RAM is soldered but dual-channel capable.

Ordered on Sunday, received today and booted it up. I was actually impressed with the build quality. I was expecting a lot more flex and it's actually reasonably solid. Has a little bit of weight to it, which for my purposes, is fine... This is a couch laptop for web-surfing and streaming, that's it.

Took only a few minutes to wipe the bloatware/add-ons, there really isn't a ton to deal with here.

Screen brightness was actually pretty good (I was worried about 250-nits, as I usually stay above 300, but pleasantly surprised here). Again, for my purposes this thing will be used under normal lighting and indoors about 95% of its life.

There's nothing NEW spec-wise in this price range (sub-300) that compares. I'm sure you could finagle a refurb or open-box item from somewhere that gets close, but for $280+tax, it's the cost of a low-mid Chromebook and can do a helluvalot more.

How is the fan noise on your unit? Do you get any high pitched sounds? The sound profile on mine is like a jet engine taking off but at a much quieter sound level.

I had ordered a blue and I received a black one. I will keep it, no point in returning it. I am unable to update to Windows 11. I went into Windows update section and downloaded all the patches for windows 10 and restarted my pc multiple times, now i see it says this pc might be allowed for windows 11 upgrade, all you need is to verify the system requirements. I have checked all the requirements and this pc meets it, but how do i actually start the upgrade process to windows 11?
