It's way better than a Chromebook. Make sure you modify the power limit and graphics settings in bios (watch ETA Prime youtube vid) to double the performance. You can't beat this value for the cpu and 16gb (soldered) ram and 500gb m2 ssd. Free upgrade to Win11. Limited bloatware. Refurbished units pop up on walmart for ~$260 of the 14" model.

I bought the 15" model last October for $300 (has numeric keypad), works great. The webcam is poor quality. Speakers are okay. The screen is a decent ips (no issues with it falling out like some reported in previous deal threads). They keyboard is nothing special. A tad heavy but it uses metal/limited plastic so build quality is average. The battery only lasts ~3hrs unplugged w battery saver browsing web/watching youtube/movies.

It has older wifi 5 & bt 5. One thing I noticed though is my HDMI output can only do 4k at 30fps, not 60fps so not really watchable. 1080p HD looks fine hooking up to TV though. I'm not sure about the usb-c output resolution.

It has a hatch in the back to add a backup m2 ssd drive (Leven JM600 1tb $40 off amazon).
Just to let everyone know the ssd drive is sata. Only 550mb per sec transfer.
Given that it's still very snappy. Have 2 of them and work just fine.
Same price during Christmas season, several times. I bought in December & am pleased. Of note, problems w/ fingerprint reader was mentioned by several people & I affirm that. Repped.

Got this laptop, its quite good for that price for checking emails and basic productivity work. I don't use touchscreen, and I rarely connect external monitors, so this works out well for me.

I did purchase a 1 TB M.2 SSD for $40 though. One of the users at my home is "cloud agnostic" and prefers keeping everything locally!

I do wish the wireless network card was upgradeable to WiFi 6E, but its soldered onto the motherboard and not upgradable. That aside I am quite pleased with the tradeoffs this laptop is making at its price point.

Would this be good for Javascript?Taking a class in a couple of weeks.
Yes, I do basic coding with Microsoft VSCode and its fine for that task. Not Javascript, but the language I use requires compiling; so JS should be more than adequate here.

This one has 16gb vs 8gb but it's 11th vs 12th gen chip. I think 16gb is more useful for this laptop.

I've had this since April of last year. I've been pleased with it until today. The battery swelled a lot today putting this guy out of commission for 3 weeks. I actually came on SD to research a new laptop and this post was the first I saw.

This sounds like bullcrap. I own one and have been using it ever since half a year ago. Built quality is not top notch but better than average. Metal lid and nice IPS screen.
Only thing I did was I fresh installed Windows 11.
How did you do the windows 11 fresh install? I was able to remove the bloat from what was installed.

I installed from bootable USB drive. Formatted and did a clean install, all bloatware was removed. The drivers were automatically detected, I did not have to install them separately.

Check out this website. TL;DR, it's not worth the upgrade.
