If your lawn is at all long (and if you are using side discharge, it probably is), it will clog all the time. And on those rare occasions that it doesn't, it will leave rows of clumped up grass because of how little force the discharge has by the time it gets to the back of the mower.
This mower is great for mulching. If your grass is too long for that, then you will be bagging, because side discharge isn't going to happen.

I live GA and I need mower right now so I had to buy a backup mower since it's backup mower, It can not be broken in any situation so I decided to get manual reel mower. Fortunately, I got used like-new condition Fiskars reel mower for $80 including catcher.
My ego has self-propell so it was extremely challenging to cut with manual reel mower but it was well worth it. I feel like Fiskars reel mower gives better cut than ego. Also I saw Sam's club has a sale for electric reel mower for $140.
Tempting to get it even though I just got Fiskars. If I don't like it, I can use those parts and battery to convert Fiskars manual reel mower to an electric version. Both can be good for backup or switch from ego mower.
Ego mower can go bad anytime because of the design. Ego tried to hide all cables for better "look" but cable routing is not a good design. Owners need to fold handle every time so cables are just waiting for failing/damage. Now there are many videos from YouTubers.
Most common cable issues are from self-propell or motor because of damaged cables.
There's plenty of people with high-end reel mowers (e.g. California Trimmer) that still own a regular mower for the utility.
Kind of makes reel mowers a rich person's toy or someone who really has no problem manually raking their lawn all the time.

Fair warning though: It is a call to cancel credit card.
If you're gonna waste a hard pull and a 5/24 slot to buy the mower you'd be much better off signing up for one of the many "spend $500, get $200 back" offers from numerous banks.
More than twice the reward and the cost of the mower knocks out the bonus requirement immediately.
Plus unlike the lowes card you might be left with a card that's useful in the future too (a chase freedom getting 5x on various useful categories for example)
.
Darn Honda engine lasting 14 years and still running like it's new! Darn my smart buying decisions!
Ah well, maybe next year
I think I'm going to hold back another year. I already have other EGO stuff and 3 batteries.
I also tried a regular 10% coupon that I had and it didn't work. Was hoping to get another 2% CB off.
So if you have the Lowe's Advantage card already, then check your email. BTW all stores show out of stock, but they had a ton at my store.

Does Lowes price match Lowes?
Unfortunately, I still don't have my lawn mower after 7 weeks. They said it will take one-three days to diagnose and a few weeks to wait parts then one week to fix. I called so many times and they said they got the part about three weeks ago then they will fix within two weeks but now they said just wait until they will call me. Nothing I can do……
I've seen YouTube videos and I should do it by myself.
Seriously, ego lawn mower has design issues. All wires can be damage easily and can cause self propel and motor issues.
I had to buy a backup mower… bought manual reel mower.
When it works, I like the mower but…………..Think twice before you buy.
I'm sure my neighbors think I'm always in a hurry since I'm running around mowing the lawn so quickly....
They are pretty good about replacing batteries when they are within warranty, but you absolutely need to save your receipts (email works). However, one of my purchases was on a refurbished one, and that only has a 1-year warranty.
My father also had to have his replaced after 18 mos which was brand new from Lowes so not an old battery sitting on the shelf or anything.
I love the equipment, I just don't know what's going on with the batteries. Calling them for the warranty is a real hassle too. It takes like 30 minutes of holding and then 30 minutes of talking.
I do see that the aftermarket is getting much cheaper than it was. I had considered replacing the cells, but I think I'll just try an aftermarket pack.
