I own this mower, and while i like most things about it, if you side discharge, this mower isn't for you. Instead of a traditional side discharge, it actually goes through the mulch plug area and makes a crazy tight corner to exit behind the right wheel.

If your lawn is at all long (and if you are using side discharge, it probably is), it will clog all the time. And on those rare occasions that it doesn't, it will leave rows of clumped up grass because of how little force the discharge has by the time it gets to the back of the mower.

This mower is great for mulching. If your grass is too long for that, then you will be bagging, because side discharge isn't going to happen.

I went to DG and bought Lowe's gift card @10% discount. So with sale and gift card came out $200 below regular price.
See this link for gift card info:

Let me just say that I got this exact mower last year at this time and it has been one of the best lawn equipment purchases I have ever made. Can easily get through my lawn (a little over 1/4 acre) with charge left over. The mower cuts through high or wet grass with ease. I don't bag, so I can't speak to how good the bag is but the mulching blade is very good. The battery lasts just as long this year as it did last year. It is so nice to not have to worry about running to the gas station to fill up a can or to ever have to worry about pulling a cord to start it. Couldn't be more pleased.

That's tool only price at ace, this one is a kit.
See attachment, says kit with battery and charger. I'll confirm when I pickup, assuming they don't cancel the order.

For those that use this mower and bag, what blade do you recommend?
The stock blade is fine, I've had no issues with mine.

I purchased this exactly month ago when it was on sale for $699. Does anyone know if Lowes will price match in that period?
I just got my refund including tax. I also bought it last month for $699. I was skeptical of going to electric however I still have my old gas mowers too. But I love this mower. It cuts great. I am getting a little worn out with age and it allows me to mow early in the morning before the heat hits without waking up neighbors that may be sleeping in.

Great mower! Good warranty as well, i do recommend getting the extended warranty through Lowes tho. Anything happens to the mower, they'll replace it no questions asked.
How long does the Lowes extended warranty cover? thanks

They have a 2 and 3 year protection plan. The 2 year is a little over $100 i think, and the 3 year is around $130. Even if you have no issues with it within that time, you can always "pretend" to have a problem, so they'll give you a new mower 😂

Does the Lowes protection plan starts after factory warranty is over? if that's the case, then it's great value.. basically means you get 7-8 years warranty

I already had the push version from CL deal and was able to use the same bag, blades, mulch plug and battery with this RWD select cut. I'm getting pretty old so I'm dialing back on that speed, still a good workout.

It starts when you buy your mower. The protection plan from Lowe's is better I think, since they'll replace your mower on the spot. With the Ego warranty, you have to take it to a local repair and it could take weeks for your mower to get fixed. I had issues with my self propel back in January, took it to the closest mower shop that does warranty work for ego…which was an hour away. I didn't get my mower back until March.

I have had the original Ego self propelled mower for about 6 years, but I just bought the 80v Greenworks at Costco. I didn't really want to jump to a new battery ecosystem, but the 8 year battery warranty through Costco swayed me. The only issue I've ever had with the Ego has been batteries dying, so the crazy battery warranty is huge for me.

As far as the mower goes, I've been pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I'd like it as much as the Ego, but I think it's better (granted, I have an older Ego that isn't the one in this thread).

Greenworks Pros:
$100 cheaper
8 yr battery warranty through Costco
Seems to cut better even without high lift blade (no mohawks so far)
Button to permanently use full power
Metal deck with true side discharge

Cons:
No self propel without blade running (Egos can do this)
Doesn't fold up quite as small
2 batteries to charge instead of just 1
Self propel speed control is weird—most of the slider is way too slow, and it suddenly jumps to very fast near the end…very fine line on where it feels comfortable to me.

I just wish I had made the swap last year when the mower came with 2x 4.0ah batteries rather than 1x 4.0 and 1x 2.0. It's still enough to cover my yard, but it'd be nice to have a little extra cushion for days where I have to mow tall/wet grass. Also, if it matters to you, the Greenworks is the top battery mower on Consumer Reports right now.
Thanks for the information, this is exactly why I won't go electric. I mean who wants to buy a new mower or $300 battery every 6 years when the battery dies. Totally kills the "better for the environment" angle. I do have to admit I looked at the Greenworks and was pretty tempted a few times but I will stick with gas for now. My 16 year old Craftsman still starts with one pull but I want one that folds up now. Yes, certain gas ones now fold up and never need an oil change.

Great info, thanks again.

That would be a long summer of growing grass without a mower.

I have had 3 ego batteries of 4 fail in the past year. I bought into the system around 2020 when Home Depot was cleaning out and there were decent refurbished units on Acme.

They are pretty good about replacing batteries when they are within warranty, but you absolutely need to save your receipts (email works). However, one of my purchases was on a refurbished one, and that only has a 1-year warranty.

My father also had to have his replaced after 18 mos which was brand new from Lowes so not an old battery sitting on the shelf or anything.

I love the equipment, I just don't know what's going on with the batteries. Calling them for the warranty is a real hassle too. It takes like 30 minutes of holding and then 30 minutes of talking.

I do see that the aftermarket is getting much cheaper than it was. I had considered replacing the cells, but I think I'll just try an aftermarket pack.
Do you need to send back the old battery, or do they just send you a replacement?

What's the difference between this mower and the LM2102SP-A which is on sale for $499 at Amazon, Ace, etc.?
Select cut (dual) blade vs traditional single blade

7 ft lb torque vs 6 ft lb torque

7.5 ah blade vs 2x 4 ah blade

It's not $300 for a new battery though- the 4AH one for example is $159 just rando price on amazon right now, it goes on sale cheaper... on top of that Ego tools are popular enough 3rd parties make even cheaper ones (I'm seeing 5-6 AH ones in the 100-120 range right now for example).

How much will you spend on gasoline/oil, spark plug, air filter, etc over 6 years in a gasoline mower?

https://www.wisebread.com/we-do-t...care-costs

Fuel cost difference:

Gas push mower: $1.50 per half-acre
Corded electric push mower: $0.50 per half-acre
Cordless electric push mower: $0.10 per half-acre

If we assume you ONLY have half an acre, and you ONLY mow say 30 times a year, that's $42 per year MORE to operate the gas mower. OR $248 over 6 years MORE for the gas mower. Obviously with larger lawns, or warmer areas where the mowing is more than that, the difference is even bigger (likewise if you live on a postage stamp in Alaska or something it's smaller).

Same link suggests about $15/yr on average for gas mower mainteance that doesn't exist on an electric-- so another $90 over 6 years.

That's $338 over 6 years MORE to operate the gas mower.

You could buy TWO OEM replacement batteries for that, or two 3rd party ones with $ left over... and that ignores the fact that over those 6 years gas is likely to get MORE expensive, and batteries likely to get LESS expensive.

This also ignores the time you waste running out to fill gas cans routinely to fuel the gas mower, the fact they tend to take more room to store, the additional noise (and pollution) they put out, and the fact it means you need to be storing gasoline at all. Plus the PITA of a pull starter. There's a reason the folks making these are getting out of the business.

It measurably does not.

I've only done it once but they did not require you send the old one back

Just picked this up from ACE, appears to be the right model with battery and charger.
