I own this mower, and while i like most things about it, if you side discharge, this mower isn't for you. Instead of a traditional side discharge, it actually goes through the mulch plug area and makes a crazy tight corner to exit behind the right wheel.

If your lawn is at all long (and if you are using side discharge, it probably is), it will clog all the time. And on those rare occasions that it doesn't, it will leave rows of clumped up grass because of how little force the discharge has by the time it gets to the back of the mower.

This mower is great for mulching. If your grass is too long for that, then you will be bagging, because side discharge isn't going to happen.
I went to DG and bought Lowe's gift card @10% discount. So with sale and gift card came out $200 below regular price.

Let me just say that I got this exact mower last year at this time and it has been one of the best lawn equipment purchases I have ever made. Can easily get through my lawn (a little over 1/4 acre) with charge left over. The mower cuts through high or wet grass with ease. I don't bag, so I can't speak to how good the bag is but the mulching blade is very good. The battery lasts just as long this year as it did last year. It is so nice to not have to worry about running to the gas station to fill up a can or to ever have to worry about pulling a cord to start it. Couldn't be more pleased.

Don't forget local utility rebates as well. My utility company is doing 25% of price up to $150 in a rebate.
Great tip! Too bad I didn't think of this with past string trimmer and leaf blowers purchases.

Hi where do I find that out? Thanks
That will depend on your state and utility company. start with a google search for "(your utility company name) rebate".

Massachusetts info is here: https://www.masssave.com/en/resid...nequipment.

Serious question, if/when this battery dies at 3.5 year do you just have to pay $400 for a new battery? Even if it lasts 5 years, same question.

So finally got around to using it. Fully charged battery at height 4, grass not too long. Battery died in 15-20 min. Blades get stuck every so often. Does not feel powerful at all. Returning and going back to gas.

Should also mention that I recharged to 25% after the battery died and that only lasted like 3 minutes. Maybe I got a bad battery who knows.

My experience was opposite.I did use it twice in the last 2 weeks, height @4 also with no issue at all. The battery lasted around 1hr and I couldn't tell the difference in quality cut between my gas Toro recycler and this model. The only concern is that the battery is so expensive to replace if it fails after 3 years. I will try to keep them inside over the winter to hopefully prolong the life cycle .

That is a valid concern and it's something to consider before switching over from gas. For my convenience that I don't have to mess with winterizing, carburetor/filter /oil change prevailed. I even switched the gas trimmer and edger to Ego. If I notice that the battery starts losing efficiency I'll file a warranty claim.

Took this out over the weekend and it consistently overloaded and stalled out on me. The grass was a little high, but it is very thick turf.. my 80v kobalt has no problem at all with it and has never stalled. The ego seems to do better when its self propel is activated (which I thought was weird).. but I don't really want to use the self propel feature. Did I get a dud, or is this how these operate?

I have yet to see my 7.5AH battery completely fail since I first owned my self propelled Ego mower from 2017. I have noticed it once over heat(I'm assuming this as the battery turned red on the LED) since I was trying to cut 5+ inches of grass during 90+ degree weather. But I just let the battery sit for a few hours and it worked like normal again. Still using the mower today with this battery with no issues.

If the battery does go bad for some reason then I think most people would buy a combo kit (trimmer + battery) or something similar and sell the tool so you just get the battery for a cheaper price. Of course that's taking time to selling a tool to offset the battery cost.

What made you switch from ego 80v to this one? I'm looking to doing the same thing.

See attachment, says kit with battery and charger. I'll confirm when I pickup, assuming they don't cancel the order.

Wow you got lucky. I'm in south Florida and it's telling me originally price 749 in ace. So they will see me at 599 after 150 off. I tried to order from your store but shipping is over 200. Lol

Just took down about a 1/4 acre of 8" grass with this guy today. Yes, I'm 90% of the reason HOAs exist. Had to pull out the 4ah spare battery to finish the last maybe 15% of the job, but that's forgivable given the circumstances. And that was mulching. Couldn't have asked for any better.

I own the EGO 21 in. 56V Lithium-Ion Cordless Electric Walk Behind Self Propelled Mower, 7.5 Ah. I got it 3 years ago from home depot for 469. It's the version with 1 battery. Should I sell mine and upgrade with the one that comes with 2 batteries?
It's still great, works like in the 1st day!
I have 3 batteries from buying multiple items from ego.
Great product

Luckily I ordered it a few days ago while still on sale. I was very hesitant at first. Was deciding between this and a Honda hrx mower. My yard isn't that big so I gave this a try. Much quieter than my gas mower! Sounded like a toy really. Much lighter as well. No need to deal with gas smell anymore.
