i've used these on home security web cam for storing data 24/7 for over a year now and no complaints. from my calculations these things get full rewrite every week and a half in the hot sun. so they been through 36+ full card write cycles and shows no signs of slowing down.

Not much. Just read and write speeds are a bit higher. Unless you are using it with very high data rate devices, it doesn't make any difference.

Do people actually need those? I'd be willing to send almost all of mine out for postage lol

Well, card readers break amazingly fast, for me at least. I have a multi in my tower. Most ports don't work anymore. I have sd readers in 2 laptops that don't work... I have a new laptop that I haven't tested yet but for me, for like a dollar more I'll definitely take it. I have like 100 adapters but surprisingly didn't have any USB readers. The extra bonus is that they'd ship that one to me and for some odd reason they weren't going to ship the other 256 to me.

So for these higher speed MicroSD, you need certain card readers from the same manufacturer to hit over 100Mb/s.

Maybe this model is physically more durable but in terms of speed, you'll get the same as the Evo Select. The only way you get their advertised speed is to use with their own reader. I actually get a bit faster read/write with the Evo Select in my laptops.

Samsung introduced new PRO Plus and EVO Plus SD cards this morning that will be appealing for content creators and and professionals in the photography and videography space! The PRO Plus is aimed at professionals with sequential speeds of up to 100MB/s read and 90MB/s write. The EVO Plus is aimed at content creators with transfer speeds of up to 100MB/s read. No write speed is specified for the Samsung EVO Plus SD card, but both have the speed needed support 4K UHD and Full HD formats.

What is the difference between Evo and Plus?
There is no discernable difference between the Samsung EVO Select and the Samsung EVO Plus — they are rebranded versions of the same SD Card, and Amazon has exclusive rights to the EVO Select name.

High chance of receiving a fake from Amazon. And the best way to test for a fake takes quite some time as it needs to fill the card completely to ensure true authenticity.

Honestly not worth the hassle, time and headache. I've received far too many fakes direct from Amazon and would prefer to spend a few bucks more at Best Buy or Samsung.

Samsung has an authentication utility buried somewhere on their site. It takes only seconds to run.

There's a number of comments stating that the Pro has no speed benefits over the Evo. I've checked into this a few times. Unfortunately, almost every posted speed test I could find was from 3 years ago. However, 3 years ago the Pro clearly outperformed the Evo in write speeds, according to experts. I have not tested myself, and maybe never will, but until I see links to benchmarks showing they are indeed the same speed, I'm willing to pay a small premium for the Pro. Will this give me any real world benefits? Who knows.
