I'm a fiskars fan-boy for sure, and this is a good deal, but seriously consider their 'powergear' versions if you push these things to cut their full capacity, it's a big help.
But if you're not sure if you need that, this is a good way to learn if you do or not, since that powergear stuff does cost more.

The lopper is OK, but once you get one of their pg2 bypass loppers, this one will just collect dust until you cant find the other loppers.

The lopper is OK, but once you get one of their pg2 bypass loppers, this one will just collect dust until you cant find the other loppers.

I just planted a 3 ft apple tree over a month go, I'm guessing pruning situation might not be needed for at least a year if not longer, maybe?

Got these a couple weeks ago, and the lopper is pretty good. It's more powerful than the little powergear anvil lopper here:

But also much heavier.

Still waiting on a good deal for the bigger bypass loppers, but these have been great to carry around, drop, beat up, and not be too concerned about.

Yeah you want the tree to get establish for a year min. before pruning. You can next spring when you're zone is out of the freezing temps.

Decent price although I would bet these are made in China like most garden tools (and hand tools) are today. Sure they are not top of the line but the majority of people don't need top of the line. Keep your tools clean, oiled and use a hand sharpener to keep them sharp. Do NOT use a bench grinder! I usually use a carbide hand sharpener and once the tools blade is sharpened and precision I then use a hand Diamond sharpener to hone the blade and get it really sharp. I have had some pruners for over a decade and it doesn't take that much time to keep them maintained.
