I received my 6a from Metro and can confirm that it won't work with TMobile sim out of the box. I've tested with my T-Mobile sim card and couldn't get services.

I would eat the additional net $10 to avoid all that crap and get a new number. No AF, $20 cheaper plan. Authorized dealers are 90% scammers.

So I have both A54 and S21FE. I just played with both more today and must say, if not considering battery, s21FE is just better in almost every aspect. Thinner bazels, more responsive fingerprint sensor, better/juicer colors and viewing angles, better camera, mega super-duper stereo speakers (A54 also has good ones but s21 has better ones). I had Pixel7 and honestly, I hated the screen. Had terrible headaches just from staring at P7, so I assume with P6a it would be the same (if not worse). Therefore, if you have extra $50 and want some decent camera and overall smooth experience go with s21fe, but if battery really meters go with a54. However, if you just want the cheapest option and like making photos, go with P6a. Just my 2 cents

Seriously I was in the store for more than an hour, and everyone who walked in is like a senior or non-English speaking immigrant or something, people who don't know wtf is going on and easy targets for scams since they don't know anything and don't ask questions.
I went into an authorized-dealer Metro store once and the employees were like a bunch of hungry car salesmen, telling half-truths and trying to upsell things. Being a 65-yr-old Asian, they must've thought that I was an easy mark. I got out of there in a hurry.

Just checking your opinion on Pixel 6a and A54. I got A54 from the metro deal for $90. Now Visible is offering me a pixel 6a for $49 (targeted with coupon code only applicable to my account).

Do you think pixel 6a at $49 worth buying given A54 will unlock down the road and most probably work on Visible (only 1% chance it won't)? Thanks

There is a visible offer for the same price as $49 (they are offering to legacy users, not everyone, and the code is specific to each user, so it is not applicable to everyone).

There is only one difference: I already use Visible, so I don't have to spend extra on service. I also have an A54 from the Metro deal.

Do you like Pixel 6a more than A54?
Humm, tough question as to which one I like better. I favor the smaller size of the 6a, but that's personal preference. Both have excellent cameras with the A54 showing more saturation, but not over the top. Google photos are easy to adjust. The Pixel shows a bit more DR dynamic range, but that's just my initial thought and certainly not a detailed comparison. In some ways I was expecting more from the Pixel as one coming from the Pixel 3a which still has a excellent camera. Screen brightness goes to the A54 when cranked to 100%, but I read the Pixel screen can be further brightened with setting adaptive brightness to on and then moving the brightness slider all the way to 100%. This does brighten the screen slightly more, but it's just a little. Sound with YT videos is a bit more full/richer on the A54, Both excellent phones and at this point I lean just a bit towards the A54 for it's screen color/brightness and for it's slightly brighter images without processing. No wrong choices. Btw, I recently saw some landscape photos from the Samsung S23 (not Ultra) and wow I can see why the camera is ranked so high with contrast, color, great detail.

The pixel 6a is a good deal at $49, whether it's locked to Visible or not. Do you plan to keep both the A54 and the 6a, or keep only one that you prefer and sell the other?

For 60 days, the Pixel 6a will be locked to Visible, and then it will be automatically unlocked. I like Samsung and will probably keep the A54 if it works on Visible (with them for so long).

If A54 does not work well with Visible, I will sell it and keep Pixel 6a. I am not sure the used Pixel 6a resale value will be good after 5 months.

I usually sell phones that I don't need to one of the resellers (WeCellTrade, TradeMore, BuyBackBoss, ItsWorthMore, etc). Their offered prices are less than what you could get by selling to an individual on Ebay, Swappa, Craiglist, Facebook, etc. but I no longer want to deal with flaky individual buyers. A quick check at BuyBackBoss shows they're offering $151 for an unlocked, flawless Pixel 6a. So even if the price will drop a bit in 60 days, you can still make a profit by selling the Visible 6a if you don't keep it. I tried to check offered prices for the A54 but it's too new and I didn't find a reseller that offered a quote for it.

As far as using the A54 with Visible, I checked the IMEI of my Metro A54 and it didn't pass the checker at Visible and Verizon. So, you won't be able to activate a Visible SIM with its IMEI, but I'm pretty sure it will work with a Visible SIM activated using another phone's IMEI.

You're right I need activated SIM for A54 (easy to order new sim saying I have iphone and insert that into A54).

I might give it to relative or sell it. But I totally understand the dealing with unknown individual on Craigslist and marketplace (will avoid ebay as long as I can).

Another consideration is 5G band support.

The Google Pixel 6a GX7AS (USA/Canada version) supports the following 5G bands - 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 20, 25, 28, 30, 38, 40, 41, 48, 66, 71, 77, 78

The Samsung Galaxy A54 USA version supports the following 5G bands - 25, 41, 66, 71

The Pixel is a better phone for anyone thinking of using the phone and getting 5G speeds while traveling overseas. I find the Pixel 6a to be a better choice for 5G band compatibility.

i have 100% success w using FB MP.
what i like is u know the buyer& can quickly decide if scammer or real.

regardless, my listings are clear with 3 terms:
1. no offers price fixed . not 1 penny less. send no offers
2. cash payment only , no pay service like venmoo, zello etc.
3. only meet at starbucks which is ~ 2 min from my home

no negotiating on these terms.
then i wait.

sold many items that way
if item is really expensive,
then will request meeting a local bank. with cameras. lol.

i have 100% success w using FB MP.

avoid ebay. used to Cl, but FB MP is so much better.
just sold my GP7 couple days ago. painless

Yeah, I sold many items on CL and lately FB MP plus Offerup (more scammers) but as you said it is easy to figure out based on communication pattern.

Visible is offering me Pixel 6a for $49 (targeted one $349 - $300 off coupon) and locked for 60 days (you know all the stuff). Do you think resale of Pixel 6a any better based on your P7 Sale on FB MP? Thanks

interesting points u make
however, i looked on Metro site and found this:

a54 has
5G: n25, n41, n66, n71;
LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 20, 25, 26, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 48, 66, 71

6a has
5G: n25, n66, n71, n77
CDMA: BC0, BC1, BC10;
LTE Roaming: 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 48;
LTE: 66, 71;

both have:
GSM: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz;
UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850), Band VIII (900);

The Pixel is a better phone for anyone thinking of using the phone and getting 5G speeds while traveling overseas. The A54 is a better phone for anyone who wants higher 5G speeds in the US (because of mmwave support) but isn't thinking of traveling. Realistically, mmwave is very rarely covered in the US except maybe stadiums or very popular venues, so the speed difference is quite negligible. I find the Pixel 6a to be a better choice for 5G band compatibility.

Those are just T-mobile's 5G bands. Once unlocked, the Metro Pixel should support all bands listed in my previous post because the SKU is the same. Google only made 2 different SKUs for USA - Verizon is GB62Z, and all other carriers are GX7AS.

Also, looking at the back of the Metro pixel 6a box shows GX7AS. Google's official website shows band support for the bands I listed
https://support.google.com/pixelp...er/7158570
5G Sub-610: Bands n1/2/3/5/7/8/12/20/25/28/30/38/40/41/48/66/71/77/78

if u r willing to do the work.
i think u could probably get ~100-150 (maybe even more) profit on a 6a if u buy for 50
depends on area u selling in as well.

i usually sell items simply because i dont want to keep tech around without use.
for example .
id get a device i want to "play with"
and then some new toy comes along and so i will sell the first toy.
. lol.

i would not buy the 6a from metro for 90, in hope to sell for 200.
but i may get another a54, in case my kid wants to use it in 6m
(if they dont, then id sell the a54)
hope that makes sense

however, in ur case , the 6a for 50 may be too good to pass up

but is there any guarantee that even once unlocked those bands will be available?
perhaps Metro has disabled them some how?
(i dont know could be totally wrong, simply wondering).

also, all those bands cannot be TM, some are att,
so if they have att info, why not list all the others
(again, i dont know could be totally wrong, simply wondering).

Hm, my mistake. You're right. The bands are not all T Mobile.

But I still find that to be unlikely. My guess is that the SKUs are the same so the compatibility should be the same. Nothing else on the Pixel is locked down (no bloatware and metro skins), so my guess is google also wouldn't let them lock down band compatibility. I guess we'll find out in 180 days.

In any case, you know for sure that A54 has very few bands but with Pixel 6a, there is a good chance that it will have very high band compatibility after unlocking

But you're right, it's not a guarantee, unless someone else on this forum can confirm they bought a Pixel 6a in the past from Metro, unlocked it, inserted an international SIM/eSIM, and was able to get 5G speeds overseas
