I received my 6a from Metro and can confirm that it won't work with TMobile sim out of the box. I've tested with my T-Mobile sim card and couldn't get services.

I would eat the additional net $10 to avoid all that crap and get a new number. No AF, $20 cheaper plan. Authorized dealers are 90% scammers.

So I have both A54 and S21FE. I just played with both more today and must say, if not considering battery, s21FE is just better in almost every aspect. Thinner bazels, more responsive fingerprint sensor, better/juicer colors and viewing angles, better camera, mega super-duper stereo speakers (A54 also has good ones but s21 has better ones). I had Pixel7 and honestly, I hated the screen. Had terrible headaches just from staring at P7, so I assume with P6a it would be the same (if not worse). Therefore, if you have extra $50 and want some decent camera and overall smooth experience go with s21fe, but if battery really meters go with a54. However, if you just want the cheapest option and like making photos, go with P6a. Just my 2 cents

It looks like someone else has this exact same question for T-Mobile's Pixel 6a. It looks like Metro just copy-pasted the band listings from T-Mobile's 6a website. The reddit discussion seems to feel that T-Mobile is wrong and Google's official specs are right, which is how I feel too.

For 4G, I agree, the difference is not significant. But for 5G band compatibility, the difference is very significant and experience will be much better with 6a, especially for traveling, if Google's specs are the correct ones.
If you think about it, T-mobile and their MVNOs aren't going to advertise the competitor's network. GX7AS works on all the bands that the SIM allows it to connect to, T-Mo towers just don't use those bands.

I have no actual experience with it, but if Metro's reason for locking up the pSIM to prevent the buyer from using the phone with a non-Metro provider in the first 180 days, why would they leave the door open to the eSIM?

A way to test and see if the eSIM is locked is to obtain an eSIM from another provider for cheap or free (like T-mo trial) and see if the phone will allow you to download the eSIM to it.
It's probably safe to assume if the phone says it's SIM locked, all the SIMs are locked.

I did this deal in store yesterday, wanted to share my experience:

Tried three different ADs - all super scummy. Fourth try was the ex-corporate store - only slightly scummy, so I went ahead and ported two numbers over. Walked out with two pixels for $169.36, probably paid for insurance, but there is no itemization on the receipt...so they really do just make up whatever price they want.

Since I was already driving around for other reasons, and had spare numbers to port, it ended up being easier and cheaper than ordering online, but probably not worth it for most. It's a shame the cheap phones for lines 3-4 cost just as much as the premium phones on lines 1-2 or I would have ported two more and picked up a couple A14s also. I miss the Corporate stores of yesteryear.

I guess I'll probably try to order a couple A54s online and sell these three extra port-out lines to someone. Anybody have luck selling numbers to port on FB MP?

understood.
however, i dont recall if a TM sim was inserted first, prior to M sim.
does anyone recall the specific post?
The salesman never made it past the initial boot screen on my pixels, maybe they aren't provisioned yet. I have Verizon and T-Mo SIMs, but I'm reminded of a couple years ago when people were buying S21s from Best Buy unlocked, and ATT autolocked their phones when they inserted the SIM. Anybody knows exactly how the SIM lock gets locked?

Maybe it's a huge value for someone, but my current Metro service started on June 1 and the perks for the most recent three T-mo Tuesdays were of no interest to me.

Ordered one. For lessthan 100, it would make it as perfect gift. May be 6 months from now, it will retail for $100.

Once we activate the phone on a new metro number to get this offer and within the first 30 day I want to sell or give the phone to someone else who have metro phone number can they use the phone? How will it work? Has anyone tried it?

For that trade- in price you found at the ad/f store, I would've picked up the free iPhone 11 as future trade ins...and just buy the pixel 6a from the website. Not worth wasting port-in numbers for 6a or a54...use those for free ip11.

The ip11s are available locally, the problem is finding ad/f that doesn't screw u over... Hence my previous post. If u find a legit ad/f, use the port in for ip11...and just buy the a54 6a online.

what u describe i believe is US Reseller Flex Policy. that was popular 1-4 years ago.
essentially, same phone would get sent to resellers like walmart, best buy etc
usually iphones.
they would lock to which ever sim is first inserted

(infact recently (~20 days ago) there is a very popular thread on iphone mini from walmart, sold as verizon phone, in which folks are putting in inactive att sim and getting them unlocked immediately)
.

my understanding is, metro phones , however, are completely different.
locked to Metro for 180 days.
if u buy online, the sim is outside phone.
even if u put in another sim before ever putting in metro sim.
phone will not work
