I'm Hanzelnuts, I was mentioned in the Wiki. You guys are lucky because Spectrum is excepting a lot of older phones as trade in for this promotion. A Note 4 is now worth $35 + $600. That's crazy.

I did this promotion 2 months ago. Traded in my Note 9 for $27 and Iphone 8 plus for $12. Note 9 was the oldest they will take back then and so was the iPhone 8. I had a Note 4 that didn't qualify. I had to buy the IPhone 8 for $90 to do the trade in.

I went in the store and paid in full for S23 Ultra and S23. Contrary to FatGuyPoolShark, I like many people, had to send in our trade-in to Assurant. You'll be lucky if the store accept your trade in. It has to be sent in.

Anyways, I have Spectrum internet. There was a promotion of buy one unlimited line for $29.99 and you'll get one line free. For those that didn't get this promotion in their email, ASK THE REP at the store if you can get that promo. Chances are, they'll say yes.

I was able to unlock my 2 phones within one week. I called and asked if they could unlock them and the agent unlocked them while I was on the phone with her. You might want to say you're traveling and needed them unlock.

Assurance emailed me and says my phones were accepted as trade-ins. But instead of $27 for my Note 9, they only going to pay me $15 reason being it was late. It wasn't late, as they received it within the 30 days required to mail in.

I have a credit of $1227 with Spectrum right now. I'm too busy to call and ask them to credit them back to my credit card. It shouldn't be a problem though.

Feel free to ask any questions if need to.

Ok, I will keep calling them again and again. Yeah, I was checking the status in network lock status in settings as you said.
It may have something to do with your activation issues. My unlock was instantaneous while I was on mobile connection.

I gather that that would probably require SIM-unlocking first, then either:
  • Insert the SIM of a different carrier and try factory reset. That might change the splash screen to be the new carrier.
  • If that doesn't work, after the phone is SIM unlocked, try first searching XDA forums or a general websearch for the direct-from-Samsung firmware. Otherwise there's an older post here that mentions some firmware for S23: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS2...anded_s23/
I followed the reddit link [reddit.com] and flashed U1 XAA firmware on the S23 using Odin. That got rid of all the Spectrum bloat. My CSC is now ATT/ATT,CHA/CHA. Note if you are doing this to free your phone from Spectrum apps and boot screens, you risk breaking automatic OTA updates.

Yes, my first set of phones were instantly unlocked. this time they are showing as unlocked to them but not for me because of activation issue. I don't know why I didn't get order email this time(these are upgrades).
When I activated first time in store 2 days ago, all were good.

For people in CA, the store accepted your trade - in at the store? No need to mail in?
If store has it in stock, they take it. If they shipped to you, you ship it and don't get the credit on the spot.

Can anyone in CA who did this IN-STORE confirm if tax was charged for full price of the new phone for just the difference?
tax charge on full amount

No, flashing OEM firmware with Odin won't trip Knox, unless you do something weird.

My local store says the system is down for maintenance today, so I can't trade in the phone? Maybe that's why everyone can't activate their phones?
