I'm Hanzelnuts, I was mentioned in the Wiki. You guys are lucky because Spectrum is excepting a lot of older phones as trade in for this promotion. A Note 4 is now worth $35 + $600. That's crazy.

I did this promotion 2 months ago. Traded in my Note 9 for $27 and Iphone 8 plus for $12. Note 9 was the oldest they will take back then and so was the iPhone 8. I had a Note 4 that didn't qualify. I had to buy the IPhone 8 for $90 to do the trade in.

I went in the store and paid in full for S23 Ultra and S23. Contrary to FatGuyPoolShark, I like many people, had to send in our trade-in to Assurant. You'll be lucky if the store accept your trade in. It has to be sent in.

Anyways, I have Spectrum internet. There was a promotion of buy one unlimited line for $29.99 and you'll get one line free. For those that didn't get this promotion in their email, ASK THE REP at the store if you can get that promo. Chances are, they'll say yes.

I was able to unlock my 2 phones within one week. I called and asked if they could unlock them and the agent unlocked them while I was on the phone with her. You might want to say you're traveling and needed them unlock.

Assurance emailed me and says my phones were accepted as trade-ins. But instead of $27 for my Note 9, they only going to pay me $15 reason being it was late. It wasn't late, as they received it within the 30 days required to mail in.

I have a credit of $1227 with Spectrum right now. I'm too busy to call and ask them to credit them back to my credit card. It shouldn't be a problem though.

Feel free to ask any questions if need to.

No, flashing OEM firmware with Odin won't trip Knox, unless you do something weird.
can you post a good guide to follow?
I might do this later.

Just returned from my local Spectrum store. They could not process the upgrade because the activation system is down. They scheduled an appointment for me for tomorrow, we'll see if it's working again.

My conversion from 29.99 A03s to s23 ($260 is after taxes and activation) to s23+ (pay only taxes $60) is complete. Do this in store before deal is dead. Traded s23 I got yesterday for s23+ in store with zero issues today.

This is the guide [xda-developers.com] I used to flash an U1 XAA generic firmware on my S23 to get rid of all the Spectrum bloat.

The process is straightforward, most of the effort was reading and finding the right files. Below are my tips to simplify the guide.

1) Unlock first before flashing to minimize any chance of phone not unlocking with new firmware.

2) 4 key software needed.
2a) ADB to get the phone into download mode [xda-developers.com]
2b) Samsung Phone Drivers for connecting Windows to your phone [samsung.com]
2c) Frija to download the firmware zip from Samsung onto your Windows comp [xda-developers.com]
2d) Odin 3.14.1_3B_Patched to install the firmware on to your phone via your Windows comp [xda-developers.com]. DL the last attachment on the op post.

3) When searching for the firmware in Frija, S23 model is SM-S911U and CSC is whatever carrier you want [tsar3000.com]. For fully stock S23, model is SM-S911U1 and CSC is XAA. Please note, this model is for base S23, S23+ and S23U have different models.
3a) I downloaded CHA (Charter / Spectrum), ATT, and XAA (Factory Unlocked) firmware just in case needed to restore.
3b) Download connection is iffy, failed at least once per download. Just search again and redownload.
3c) Unzip the firmware zip. There are 5 files inside. 2 of the files are CSC files and you are to use only one of them, not both when flashing. The guide explains one will wipe the data and the other will not, your choice on which to use.

4) Under How to install Samsung firmware there are 3 subsections: Using Android Debug Bridge (ADB), Using SD Card, and Odin. Each are mutually exclusive, so just choose 1. I did Odin. Once Odin started, the process took less than 5 mins and the phone rebooted without any of the Spectrum branding / apps.

Does the trade-in phone need to be activated? Looking to buy a prepaid phone from Walmart for trading in, so want to know if it would need to be activated before trading in for S23?

Tried today for s23 to s23+, would not process at checkout, message promoted saying need to do order online as additional info is needed. Bought 3 lines with upgrade, and upgraded again for 2 lines a few days later, so not sure why it got that prompt.

Guess it's end game for me, can't add new lines either.

Also called spectrum mobile and everything shows fine on their end.

I purchased a Galaxy A54 from MetrobyTmobile. The unit shows up as acceptable as a trading option on the Tmobile carrier list and on "Other," but not on the Metrobytmobile list.

I want to trade it in for a S23. When you turn it on, The Metro logo splashes on the screen. Do you think they will accept it, despite it not being listed on the Metro carrier list? Does that matter?

Anyone tried it or have experience in this?

Thanks.

Do it in-store. My experience was they did not even ask for the carrier.

No, unactivated phone is fine, but don't trade in a brand new phone because that's abnormal. Take it out, turn it on, get it to the home screen, get your fingerprints and oils on it, make it look used. Then trade the phone only in, keep accessories at home.

Same for me. The staff at the store was nice and able to process the trade in and order, completed the order and charged the account so that the deal is locked in. They hold on to the new phones, and returned the trade in phones to me and ask me to come back in tomorrow for activation and physical transaction of handing over the phones.
