Trade-in IMEIs: When testing to see if your phone is accepted for trade-in, any random fingermashed IMEI can be used as long as it starts with a 3. I did this promotion 2 months ago. Traded in my Note 9 for $27 and Iphone 8 plus for $12. Note 9 was the oldest they will take back then and so was the iPhone 8. I had a Note 4 that didn't qualify. I had to buy the IPhone 8 for $90 to do the trade in.
I went in the store and paid in full for S23 Ultra and S23. Contrary to FatGuyPoolShark, I like many people, had to send in our trade-in to Assurant. You'll be lucky if the store accept your trade in. It has to be sent in.
Anyways, I have Spectrum internet. There was a promotion of buy one unlimited line for $29.99 and you'll get one line free. For those that didn't get this promotion in their email, ASK THE REP at the store if you can get that promo. Chances are, they'll say yes.
I was able to unlock my 2 phones within one week. I called and asked if they could unlock them and the agent unlocked them while I was on the phone with her. You might want to say you're traveling and needed them unlock.
Assurance emailed me and says my phones were accepted as trade-ins. But instead of $27 for my Note 9, they only going to pay me $15 reason being it was late. It wasn't late, as they received it within the 30 days required to mail in.
I have a credit of $1227 with Spectrum right now. I'm too busy to call and ask them to credit them back to my credit card. It shouldn't be a problem though.

After a couple of days, went into a diff store and bought S23+ in-store by trading in the S23 I bought above. Got $1000 instant trade-in credit, hence paid $112 (including tax on full price and new line, by the gig plan). Thinking to keep the line for this billing cycle in order not to get flagged on my account.
End of the day, I paid taxes on two phones but if you look I still got S23+ for $350(including CA taxes) by trading in iPhone 8+

Also, I recall reading somewhere that they don't give prorated refunds (maybe Google Fi is one of the few that do).
After you cancel, it's unclear whether your service continues until the end of the current billing cycle.
It's also unclear about when to cancel if you want to do the full 60 days. Do you have to cancel right on day 60, or could you cancel on day 45 and have the service continue until the billing cycle closes out?
In any case, don't cancel and waste a number. Port out into another promotion like the $400 Costco Tmobile thread. Plenty of other carrier promotions looking for port-ins from Spectrum. Trade it to another SDer if you don't want it.
