I'm Hanzelnuts, I was mentioned in the Wiki. You guys are lucky because Spectrum is excepting a lot of older phones as trade in for this promotion. A Note 4 is now worth $35 + $600. That's crazy.

I did this promotion 2 months ago. Traded in my Note 9 for $27 and Iphone 8 plus for $12. Note 9 was the oldest they will take back then and so was the iPhone 8. I had a Note 4 that didn't qualify. I had to buy the IPhone 8 for $90 to do the trade in.

I went in the store and paid in full for S23 Ultra and S23. Contrary to FatGuyPoolShark, I like many people, had to send in our trade-in to Assurant. You'll be lucky if the store accept your trade in. It has to be sent in.

Anyways, I have Spectrum internet. There was a promotion of buy one unlimited line for $29.99 and you'll get one line free. For those that didn't get this promotion in their email, ASK THE REP at the store if you can get that promo. Chances are, they'll say yes.

I was able to unlock my 2 phones within one week. I called and asked if they could unlock them and the agent unlocked them while I was on the phone with her. You might want to say you're traveling and needed them unlock.

Assurance emailed me and says my phones were accepted as trade-ins. But instead of $27 for my Note 9, they only going to pay me $15 reason being it was late. It wasn't late, as they received it within the 30 days required to mail in.

I have a credit of $1227 with Spectrum right now. I'm too busy to call and ask them to credit them back to my credit card. It shouldn't be a problem though.

Feel free to ask any questions if need to.

I have two numbers that can be ported out but that needs to be done within the next day or else I'm planning to call in to cancel the line. If interested, let me know.

Do people still have the problem of the phone locking itself to the Spectrum SIM after getting it unlocked and performing a factory reset?

If so, how does one truly unlock the device?

As far as I know there was only one reported case of that. My S23 was still SIM-unlocked after a factory reset, at least as reported by Settings > Connections > More connection settings > Network lock status.
But I haven't tried putting another SIM card in it yet.

Customer service is no longer unlocking the device, on request. They come back with the 60-day rule (I should have done this sooner)..
I even tried escalating it, got shot down (also threw in the line about needing it unlocked for urgent international travel - no dice).

My phone (S23 plus) still shows unlocked even after factory reset.
So, I guess it's YMMV.

If you don't activate, it's technically a violation of the terms of the promo so you might not get the $600 promo with the trade-in.
Also, failure to activate probably prevents ever SIM-unlocking the phone.
This is correct, my credit was delayed because I didn't activate until the day of trade in.

Call them and say going to UK for vacation, need phone unlocked, worked for me.
Also make sure when you call, any call for any reason... you request cancelation, and make sure to be transferred, once "transferred" make sure sure you're talking to cancelation department, then and only then make your requests, this is the only efficient method to contaxt spectrum! At the end of your call make sure you ask for credits for the hassle or you will end [select individual or all] I prefer to use each service as a bargaining chip.

You can try at store where you bought. Last 2 times I did in store only. It's very simple when I saw the screen.

Which Sim did you factory reset? Spectrum SIM or T-M SIM

Spectrum SIM, but when I check the settings, it still shows "unlocked".
