No surprise it's on sale, when it was a $40 set they launched at $50. Just like the Speed Champions sets that are now $25, but have less pieces than the $20 sets did. We're not stupid, Lego, we know that costs didn't go up enough to justify a 25% increase in retail price.

My son loves these build sets. What price would be good to buy at for something like this? I don't want to over spend

generally I go by $0.10/piece or less is average, lower is better - there are some exceptions like if it's for a particular brand or if it's motorized then it depends

Ok cool. My son is 6 in kinder. And he builds these kits really fast and wants more of a challenge.

For smaller cars, the designs are more generic. So per piece price is lower. I would say < 0.05 a piece for smaller cars is considered to be a deal.

Is this Tom Cruise's Bugatti? I think he'd fit in.

My 13 yr old built this last month. He enjoyed the build, thought it would be great as an intro set to Technics. He always wanted a Bugatti model. Fair price at $42.

Many common sections with the similarly priced blue/black Mclaren that my daughter built….would not recommend if you already have that one.

A lot of sets have alternate instructions if you go to the website and look for the B model (same parts) - this helps get more time/use out of a set (but you'd need to print them or give them a tablet or something)

Get him an old school model airplane kit and a tube of glue. The challenge will become all yours.

Wierd flex attempt. I highly doubt your 6 year old is building technic sets or even basic sets alone. A 6 year old wont be able to deal with all the pins and building techniques in the technic sets by himself.
