Absolute drivel, and likely ill-intentioned misinformation. Even the 8GB model is more than enough for lots more than "web browsing and basic office work"; this 16GB is good enough for the large majority of power users.

Great deal! For those of us who prefer to "bring their own storage," the 16GB/256GB would have been better (assuming the price would have been proportionately lower), but at this price it's fine and allows you to use it right away w/o needing to worry about an external storage solution right away.

I'm typing this on my $500 base M2 purchased from Costco last month (currently hooked up to two 27" 1440 displays). I'm a looong time PC user (the last time I touched a mac was in the 90's). The learning curve to MacOS was a bit rough, but I'm slowly getting used to the new OS. It's hard to believe so much power is packed into such a small (and cheap) package.

This thing will stream 4k (2x speed) YouTube without a single stutter. It is silent, despite the active cooling.

I'm almost surely going to pick up a second unit during Costco's sale. I'll probably have one unit permanently tied to my TV (for YouTube, Steam, CloneHero, Chrome, etc). And another in my office. For my office computer, I'm tempted to upgrade to the "Pro" model, but I'm likely deluding myself that I need the extra power relative to the $500 base.

The Studio's a little faster in CPU and GPU (not much, but it's there), has double the RAM, and has a little more expandability. Is that worth $400? Only you can determine that. For most people, the $500 Mac M2 mini is the real deal.

Not going to lie, the $500 Mac Mini M2 is one hecka of a computer, Its only using 7-10w when idle/low power usage. I just had to return it because it would constantly hang up on me when doing a lot at once, the 8GB of ram really hits hard

Feels like apple is really flushing out their m2 inventory for the m3 in June. If it's gonna be 3nm, it'll be wild.
The Mac mini m2 was released 5 mos ago. I don't think Apple is on an 8 month cycle on Mac mini.

For anything more than web browsing and basic office work it needs to be 32gb and 1TB SSD. Wish retailers would sell higher spec ones, only way is though apple.
Clearly, you don't know what you're talking about

Doing a lot of what? Would like to know which app or apps you were using to see if it would apply to me. Thanks

Hey Premneo, what were you running when you would run into issues? Thanks

This is the worst BS I've ever heard about Apple Ms. M-series is extremely memory efficient. 8GB would be more than enough for an average user who tends to browse with over 30 tabs open.

I have a 16GB version, and I have 40-50 tabs open at all times, programming ide, photoshop, discord/slack, several instances of terminal open, local web server and a few more small apps. I've not seen this wonderful machine to throttle me at all.

The only scenario that would require 32GB is for somebody who probably needs to render huge amount of something. That's an absolute overkill for anything else unless you're trying to future-proof.

If there wasn't Costco Mac Studio deal, I would have jumped on this. 16g/512g is a sweet spot to last quite a few years without worrying. 8g or 256g is a bit less to me, but could still be perfect for most of home users. I added 2t external sandisk for photo/video needs on Mac Studio and there's nothing (including this one) could top that.

Best reason to get this one is if you need HDMI 2.1, 4k at 120Hz. Otherwise the M1 Max is better.

I have a both an 8GB RAM M1 iMac and an 8GB RAM M1 MacBook Air and can confirm that it can be slow in certain situations like:
- Having a ton (50+) tabs open in Safari
- Having Discord, Slack, Photos.app, and Preview.app (with some large-ish +100MB ebooks) all open at once
- Doing anything with non-Apple Silicon-optimized apps like Fusion 360

In general, 8GB is totally fine for most cases. But for any kind of intensive work, I wish I would have sprung for the 16GB versions, and definitely will in the future.
