Saying you're an early adopter is a stretch if you're only on year 3. You must be doing something wrong if you're having battery issues already . I am on year 7 and my batteries degraded to like 50%. Still using all my original batteries the came with the tools.

I am an early EGO adopter (got them when Home Depot had the contract with them). I have 5 of their tools and 4 of their batteries. I am on year 3 and all my batteries are turning into paperweights. My 5ah hold like 30% of their original charge, and my 2.5ah literally give me 15 minutes or less on like my leaf blower.

The tools work great. The convenience of electric is super. But I am mad I am going to have to drop $500 already on some new batteries. There is no way I would even come close to $500 of gas at this point.

I'm not saying don't go electric/EGO, just be aware that you will be replacing these batteries MUCH FASTER than you anticipate. Don't go electric because you think it will be cheaper in the long run - it won't be.

I don't the the lone batteries are really a deal unless you already have all the tools you want? You can get the 765 blower for $300 with a 5ah battery for example, and that blower is pretty beast. Or a 650 blower for 220 or so.

It looks like that the battery in this EGO blower ($169) is the same as the $149 battery?

After a week delay backorder finally got my two batteries. I did order from Amazon and not a third party marketplace scammer. The date on these batteries is January 2022. Definitely going back to Amazon. A year and a half is a red flag. These should be fairly fresh after this long of a wait. They came in blisterpack packaging. Wondering if Amazon took these from a wholesaler who could not unload them. Anyone else check their date codes?

They all have a 3 year warranty. Did u register them so you can see the date? If not I believe they go by the date on the battery.

I just got my two batteries today on a 5 week backorder. The date codes on both are from January 2022. Quite ticked off with Amazon. They are dumping very old stock. These are being sent back.

Does it really matter that much? I received the same 4.0Ah batteries from the LB6153 blower combo and the CS1613 chainsaw combo, both of the batteries are dated January 2022, charged them from around 2/5 capacity to full, they all work fine, so I registered both.

Those are ARC Lithium batteries, EGO advertises the shelf life to be up to 10 years: "Due to their high capacity, all EGO batteries can be stored unattended for a minimum of 10 years without damaging capacity and cycle performance. After 30 days batteries discharge to 30% capacity (to ensure longevity." (https://egopowerplus.eu/faqs)

Alleged shelf life does not equal Warranty length of 3 years. Big difference. Go read all the complaints about EGO not honoring warranties. Read the complaints of EGO running out the clock on consumers who have bad batteries. I own Milwaukee for almost all my power tools. Never seen one single battery from Home Depot, Max Tools, International Tool, Acme Tools or any other which shipped old batteries.

Why does EGO has a huge glut of these batteries sitting around for a year and half? Maybe you should ask that question.

So, if there are so many complaints about bad EGO batteries and EGO not honoring warranties, people shouldn't trust EGO and buy EGO battery powered products. EGO is definitely not one of the big players in the chainsaw or power tools world, it's just one of the big players of battery powered tools, which still targets to home users mostly, I haven't seen or heard any professional company like a tree service company using battery powered tools.

I'm not saying that EGO produces good batteries, but with my limited knowledge about arc lithium battery technology, I'd accept the 1.5 years' shelf life, whether or not EGO would honor warranties, it's another issue, not on the battery itself, you wouldn't be in a better position if you get a recently manufactured battery, say January 2023 if EGO doesn't honor warranties.

Received my battery (which was backordered) finally. Damn, this thing is huge and heavy compared to the 2.5 Ah battery that came with my combo kit (blower and string trimmer). I really dislike the blisterpack packaging it came in which makes opening a pain and a sure way to cut yourself while trying to open the package.

Mine also had a January 2022 date code. Not too worried (that's what warranties are for, right?) but will charge it up and then try it out on my blower to make sure it works and holds up. Then I'll register it.

I have actually seen several local companies use Ego's professional line of lawn/yard tools around town. I've seen them using them to take care of all manner of trimming, blowing, sawing, edging, etc. The investment is a little higher initially because of the battery expense, but the maintenance is much lower on these EGO tools, and I see more and more companies using them. I've had EGO products for years. I haven't had a larger battery (4.0+) die on me yet, but my two oldest small 2.5ah batteries did eventually die, well outside the warranty period, unfortunately.

If so, and it looks like you're correct, that appears to be a very slick deal!

Mine had to be replaced after just a year for the weeder size battery which I think was 2.5amp. New one is fine but it should have lasted a lot longer than that. Covered under warranty.

They are the biggest player in the yard tool battery powered market. All the hand tool makers are just now starting to come after them but all the tests show ego is still out performing them. I own most of their line and just got a new mower from them since we moved and no longer need my gas zero turn.

In the early days most manufacturers build their equipment to higher standards , then start to cut corners
