MicroCenter just updated their long running $100 off an Ender 3 3D printer for new customers deal to be the Ender 3 V2 rather than the Ender 3 Pro. It seems to have a few worthwhile upgrades relative to the previous deal printer (e.g. glass bed, "silent" main board, etc.).

As usual for the Micro Center new customer promotions, it requires a unique cell phone number (VOIP like Google Voice do not work) and email address.

I used a Mint Mobile "free" trial ($2 SIM from Target or free eSIM) and the gmail period trick (adding periods anywhere in the username portion of your gmail email address will all get delivered to the same inbox but are treated as unique by Micro Center).

this is not true regarding tweaks out the box. it prints perfect out the box if you know what you are doing. i sell prints online and have a few e3 pros and other more expensive printers.

this does require more tinkering AFTER you use it a good few hours. but out the box, if you can't get a smooth print, i guarantee its user error or bad copy.. took a normal amount of time to calibrate with paper.

i have the cr touch on the s1 printer and theres no difference...its not auto leveling.

reasons to buy an ender are the endless amount of support, mods, and community.

after 2 years i am getting rid of these because the maintenance time adds up compared to next gen printers like the bambu.

btw this. deal came out over 2 years ago. a better value is the recent s1 deal for $200 that may still be active.
for $50 I'd jump into the world of 3D Printing - was there some crazy deal going on at some point?
I really hate that the closest microcenter is 300 miles away.

If the V2 is better than the pro im annoyed because I finally bit and got the pro a few months ago. It printed great right out of the box and print got a bit worse when I started messing with it too much. I will consider the S1 if I can't get my Anet A8 back in order.

Wait IS this better than the pro? I got the pro from micro center two years ago but gave it to a friend then I got another refurbished one bc I was having sellers remorse

0 experience with 3d printing btw never opened either box

But if the v2 is gonna be superior or easier to work with I'd rather start with that and then just sell or gift the pro

Typically the v2 is considered better than the pro

Considering how annoying it is to do the bed leveling, is it worth going up to the Ender Neo for $100 more? It seems like that brings in all the bells and whistles from the various upgrades plus leveling which sounds like I'm going to want to avoid mega frustration.

I bought a V1 pro under one of these promos and had to return it because I could never get it to print right despite dozens of hours of tweaks and leveling.

Just got my 3rd 3d printer with this coupon. My hobby started with the Ankermake M5 and snapped a Ender 3 Pro up last Oct. Didn't ever take it out of the box as the Ankermake was blowing through prints and developing my love of the hobby. Ran into some warranty issues with my M5 so its being sent back for a replacement. My itch to print had me take out the Ender Pro and my was I shocked at how pampered i was with how much work it took to get printing. But my stubbornness allowed me to power through the assembly and tuning issues. After one week I couldn't stand small cosmetic things that I was seeing so I plunged into a upgrades (Dual Z, Bl Touch, fan shrouds). Got thrown for a loop with some special circumstances of compatibility with the BL touch and my particular Microcenter Ender 3. Ripped the BL touch out and am back to printing non stop. Was at Microcenter in line and caught this deal on my phone because I was bored. By the time I was at cashier had the coupon (wife signed up as new member) and now I own 3 printers. I'm going to offset how slow this prints with having 2 x Enders. And when my M5 gets replaced I'll pound through the 30+ kg of filament I have in my garage. Woot loving this hobby.

Sorry if I missed this in the comments, but I see there is a $50 levelling sensor available that seems compatible. Can anyone comment on how much that helps?

Just looking for entry level to experiment with kids that are interested in 3d design. Don't want to spend much as I doubt we will use it much, but also don't want to have a lot of wasted time and disappointment, so trying to find a middle ground. Thanks for any help!

For $150 you can buy a printer that already has automatic bed leveling instead of buying the V2 and adding it. $100 is an OK price for what you get if you want to spend the least possible to get your toes wet but that printer is several years old. If you want more features there are printers in the $150-300 range that will have features much better than the cost of upgrading parts yourself.
